Funny you should mention. The counter guy asked if I wanted to come back or wait (I bought a set of tires for the Honda as well) as it would be a while. I told him I didn't mind because I love the smell of new tires (waiting area in middle of tire racks).

New lights don't smell as good....

wheels and tires look great... cant wait to see those shoes on...

I was looking at those tires as well.

What rim/wheel is that and do you need to run spacers on the 70 series rig with them?

WELL SPRUNG

Opinions, advice or observations anyone?

Looking for input on OME vs. Ironman suspension for the 73/74 family. OEM springs are flat, bushings shot, shocks same.....

Need 1.5 or so inches of lift for new tires and a ride that my wife will be happy with. No winch or heavy loads, but new bumpers at both ends.

Had OME on my 62 (leaves removed for lift and comfort) and it was fine. Ironman promotes/offers a "Comfort" shock and a moderate lift as described in their brochure (see page below).

Thanks!

Not sure if this aids your decision making process but this is 3" lift on Old Man Emu.

Hello,

OME is very good. Recommended.

What do you use your rig for? What mix of pavement, trail and off-road?

Thanks for chiming in!

Used OME and Parabolics, not Iron Man..

Parabolics if still around?... were out of the box the most plush ride I have ever had in a cruiser, otherwise I like the OME, sounds like a light kit for your truck would be best suited..

Thanks for chiming in. Pls disregard my PM, I got off my arse and searched threads. Will further research parabolics.

Tor is looking for some OMEs but I am not looking for a lot of lift. In the meantime, we are doing a quick refresh with shocks, shackles, bushings and stabilizer.

My pleasure..

I drove the fj45 with turbo 1hz 20 hours, it was very nice drive in a bread box with winds through Oregon and California that would move the truck over a half foot...

As for lift 2.5, think it settled out at 1.75 after a few years, still drives very nice.

Rob -

Beautiful rig. Makes me wish I had a 75 that needed a cover!

On the 73, current ride height seems about right and no complaints on ride quality. We'll see how the ride goes with upgraded components (other than springs).

Some example trucks:

C - Charles's BJ 74 with OME 3" kit
B - Tor's BJ 74 with OME 3" kit and a leaf removed from each corner
As I recall both are running 33's
A - My BJ 73 with 29 inch Cooper tires on 16 inch rims

Note the distance from center of axles to top of wheel arches. I am running 30.5" Toyos. Wheels/tires will be on my truck next week and I will post updated photos.

Would you please refrain from drawing red lines through my Cruiser. If you continue I will be forced to consider legal action.

Those are not red lines on your cruiser, but laser target designators we use to distract aviators operating out of Whidbey Island NAS and Paine Field (Everett 787 / 777 plant). Not sure how they ended up in the photos...

Please note, I attempted to be neighborly and converted your 74 from RHD to LHD.

Any lawyer I can afford won't know what a "laser target designator" even is so please disregard my threat of legal action.

We could use the same lawyer and reduce our costs of litigation.
