This damn brake thumping drives me nuts!
I read somewhere it has to do with e brake actuators.

If I don't find a fix I may be looking for a 08+ landcruiser on a LX570

I don't have that so it is definitely something you can fix!

What do you mean by brake thumping? Pulsing when slowing down?

If you're getting a thump upon acceleration after a stop, that's the rear drive shaft. Grease all of the zerks at every oil change or buy the TSB drive shaft. My thumps after a while. I just grease it and it's good to go for another six months.

It happens when I stop, it feels like getting rear ended. I was talking to a coworker and he said his moms 470 does the same thing

Mine has done it once when I was in Park. After I greased the zerks.

Just buy the updated driveshafts and it is DONE. I did it a few years back. Under $800 and about 45 min to swap them both.

We are doing the suspension as we speak. (When I say we, I am having it done). Where do we buy the updated driveshaft?
I called the dealer, they didn't know about it.

All the new driveshaft are the new part. The old one was superceded

This is what my notes say from earlier this year...
  • Driveshaft clunk; grease for now; upgrade propeller shaft assembly previous part 37110-6A480. Upgraded part 37110-60A40; $265

Going to try the grease before upgrading the drive shafts. This is all great info.
Thx

Is that the dealer part number? I might as well do it now during the upgrades.

Yes, that's the dealer part number

Are you saying both, front and back driveshafts need to be replaced? Or, do you mean R&R for the rear?

Thanks in Advance,

B

Rear is the real thump culprit but they have new parts for both.

Where exactly do I grease? Is it by the wheel axle or in the rear center? Should there be a nipple where I can grease or do I have to take apart something?

Thanks guys!
