RIP Tucker- September 15, 1999- July 9, 2006.

After a 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer, while out at his favorite place with my son and I, my dog laid down and peacefully passed away with me holding him. It was fast, painless, and far better than what I anticipated having to go through (declining health, incompetence, putting him down). Two minutes before he passed away, he was happy as could be, with his head out the window of the car, smiling.

I love you Tucker, you were the best.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I have two aging greyhounds and I am seriously dreading THOSE days. Just know that you gave your friend a very good life. :frown:

Sorry for you and your families loss. Glad that you got to spend the last few minutes with him and it was a peaceful event.

Sorry about your loss. I know how it hurts.

Sorry, that will be a tough day for me when it comes too.

I am sorry for your loss and I understand your pain. I put my 7 year old Lab Harley to sleep in May of 2004 and miss him daily. The first few weeks were the worst but I got through it by remembering him when he was happy and knowing that I did everything to give him a great life as well as trying everything to save him.

This is how I like to remember him.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. He was up in Yosemite Valley and my wife was throwing water at him, he was trying to catch it in his mouth. She is out in the back of the 80 right now, holding him, trying to say goodbye.

That is amazing, the picture I posted is in Yosemite, I lived in Clovis when it was taken. Again, So sorry.

Very sorry

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Keep thinking about the good times you had.

My friend, I am sorry.

The only I hate more than hearing about somone losing their dog, is hearing someone lose their GSD... Their bond cannot be described, only experienced.

We have a plaque in our bedroom that reads "Shepherds leave pawprints on our hearts..."

Cary, is this your pic of Tucker and your boy? I love it - freaked out when it was posted...

The Rainbow Bridge

Farewell Tucker - you are loved...

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the "Rainbow Bridge" because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing; they are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him/her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again, again, and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

:crybaby:

I hate these threads...........Only for the reason that memories of putting down my Black Lab because of a ruptured disc that went from bad to worse in 12 hours....It sucked so bad I had to take my two weeks vacation and take a road trip in the desert to get away. This was 10 years ago. Then I had replaced him with a yellow and she is getting old quickly this past year and her time is coming and I hate it...:crybaby:
