Hi all,
So I've gone deep into looking at 70 series trucks as I'm finding I just like the look more and more. I'm scoping out a couple near me. I came across this listing on the dreaded FB. I wanted to get forum expertise/opinion if this could be worth inquiring on? (no idea yet if it's still for sale). On the surface, to me, its listed a bit high at $28k considering it's mentioned the injectors could use servicing. From my understanding, Prado engines can potentially have more issues? Any info is appreciated :)

I doubt it's leaking injectors, most likely glow plugs.

Paint does not look original.

The 2L-T engine is a bit weak, not much power at all, prone to cracking heads. Will be glacially slow if mated to the usual slushbox auto.

The seller is really full of it, doesn't mention why it's up for sale so soon.

AC systems never 'just need a recharge'.

And personally hate the look of those old 40 Series chrome wheel things on the boxy 1980s shape body.

Okay yea, injectors sounded kind of odd to me. I do worry about the engine gamble on the Prado's.
I laughed at the A/C recharge too.

As I thought about it more throughout the day. I'd rather hold it for the non-Prado 70 series. I like the boxier design anyway :)

That would be about half the asking price where I live, though that may not be relevant in the US. Seems crazy when you could get a V6 4Runner for far less that could drive up hills without a line of cars behind.

everything this guy said ^^ accept the 4 runner part;)
get a hd 70series, or a prado without the L-engine family

I found mine by looking at Kijiji 3 or 4 times a day for 6 months.

Prados aren't bad if you know what you're getting into and don't pay a premium for one. That one is way too expensive for an LJ with even mild engine issues. The KZ Prados are reputed to be pretty decent, they have good power and have more highway-oriented gearing. Ride quality and handling is better than an HD 70-series, but with slightly less robust axles and drivetrain. Both have their benefits and drawbacks.
