I have an '89 FJ62 that has some rust issues... frame behind the shock tube, rain gutters, rear fender wells, etc. Mechanically it's in good shape, but needs a new suspension and tires. I'd like to make an expedition rig out of it.

In addition to the above, I'm buying a FJ60 that was rolled and has been sitting in a field for what looks like years. Interior is shot, body looks good from the front doors forward.

Ultimately, I'd like to end up with a nice clean expedition rig and something else, maybe a quail buggy, truck body, or some kind of convertible joy ride. I'm looking for advice on the two projects. Which drive train should I use for the expedition rig 2F or 3FE? Chop off the FJ60 body and build a flatbed? Try to put a FJ45 body on a 60 chassis? Your imagination and experience is requested.

How about using a 70 series pickup bed? This place MDT ARMOR | MDT ARMOR located in Auburn, AL refits vehicles and recently a bunch of new 70 series pickups came through. I driving by the facility I see that they have a lot of leftover new beds pulled from the Cruisers. Not sure what they intend to do with the beds, may be worth dropping an email to see if you could grab one.

I sooo want one of those for my fj55 flatbed...

I have only seen maybe 2 cool fj60 pick-ups. One of them was a full blown camping rig. mucho bad assery. it takes alot of work to back half one of these wagons, tho. be sure to wear your respirator unless you want you lungs to gain weight like mine did...

Any pictures of a good one?

Can do what I did and crew cab it, lengthen the frame and wheel base, and put a m102 trailer bed on it. Working on making it a step side at the moment.

Going to replace the metal on the side steps and put wood flooring in the center. Who knows, this truck changes so much.
