Hi all,

In search of a "historic document" off of a fj40. I missed the Vermont DMV services window on the truck I am restoring and need to look into other options.

Thanks!

Montana bonded title has changed the last few years,
you need a bond for the high KBB value for 3 years
the vin on the vehicle needs to be inspected and signed off by someone with a badge, police, sheriff deputy, highway patrol, etc
send in all the paperwork
I usually include 1 or 2 pics.

I've done several thru the years, but I live here so it is easier for me.

Why didn't Vermont work? Never had an issue there. Super Easy

I thought a southern state, GA?, AL? only used a bill of sale for older/vintage rigs

I'll have to look into that. I havnt heard about either of these states doing that.

VT closed down their generous title services in July. Americas DMV is closed. You now must have ties to the state to tag a vehicle there.

I can confirm that Alabama doesn't title older vehicles.
Nor does GA unless you have a title and want to continue to have a title and pay the title fee. Otherwise BOS is the way to go. Complicates matters if you want to sell or register in a state like VA with a GA registered vehicle.

But moving vins and titles around is shady.
