Folks- I'm on the verge of picking up a BJ70 in WA. Without photos and bothering with any details other than it is your average Canadian BJ70, what do you have to say? I've wanted a BJ70 for ages (since about 1993), so I have 'rose colored glasses'. Besides, my wife wants to actually drive a Landcruiser rather than look at the one in the driveway... and how else can I manage to pass on the 'sickness'?:hhmm: Any thoughts/opinions are welcome. Thanks!

The rust is the big issue.

The rest of it is just basic maintenance. The 3B doesn't have any real hidden demons, so to speak. If it runs, it runs well. If it doesn't run, it needs fixed.

Either way, you should budget for a turbo sooner rather than later.

Is it an '85 with the 12V electrics, or later model with 24?

Dang this thread is worthless. If this truck is in NM pictures are due.

Great to meet you too, Beno! Here are a few crappy cell phone pics. Now the thread is only marginal. Hopefully I'll take my wifey out on the 'tree run and you'll get to meet both girls.

Say Rob, you do realize how much the guys in the club hate you right now.

Pappy- did you send over a legion of pack rats to my house last night? It seems they hate me too!!! Any ideas on how to keep pack rats out of vehicles? I understand having a 'visitor' after a week or so of inactivity, but ransacking the interior of my BJ in less than 12 hours is a bit ridiculous. No true destruction, just sunflower seed shells all over and the feeling of general violation. I'm thinking that I'll lock my cat in the truck tonight... Or, maybe some night vision goggles and a suppressor? That would be fun at least...

Pack rats, or more appropriately wood rats, love those Victor snap traps with a dab of peanut butter.

i don't have a wood rat problem. you are welcome to park it at my place. i will need the keys in case i need to "move" it for some reason and a odometer disclaimer... because while i don't have wood rats, i do have forest gremlins that will spin your odometer falsely.

i offer this service free of charge out of the goodness of my heart. Beo has taught me well...

That's funny. I would make the same offer, but I have had wood rat problems. Thankfully they have stayed out of my garage and only munched on my apples. They were nice and plump when they went for the Victor.

Victor snap trap- I can do that. Not as much fun as the midnight ambush, but it should work as long as I remember to remove the rat. If not, that will discourage the Forest Gremlins. I have them too. She's my daughter... I 'sold' her my 40 so that should deflect her interest in the BJ for a while... Thanks Guys.

While less satisfying, I gotta think a snap trap is way less frustrating than a .177" or larger hole in that pretty lc.

If you want to try out my forest gremlins give me a call. my storage offer stands :-D

Swypo'd from my droid using IH8MUD

It's a BJ which is close to the FJ, so my guess is that the cat would probably escape in about ten minutes.....
