I never thought I'd buy a Lexus! (well I guess its a fancy LandCruiser). Here's a pic of it next to my 80 series.
I've been looking for a while for something for the
to drive and we settled on a LX 470. Comfy, safe, yet still capable for expedition/camp use and perfect for kids in the future.
After finding nothing in Reno/ northern CA that was reasonably priced, we found this 2003 LX in Texas. Good maintenence history, 113k mi for $20k, plus another $895 to ship it to Reno.
Mechanically, its in great condition, not a hint of rust. Leather is a bit sun baked but I already have the seats soaking in Leatherique so they should be good as new. A few minor dings/scratches on the exterior but now we wont feel bad if it ends up with any Nevada pinstriping. Overall well maintained. Only problem is the AHC does not work! Its stuck in low....so I guess I get to start my build right away.
The initial plan:
OME Heavy 2.5''
Slee diff drop
305/65/18 BFG ATs
ARB front bumper w/Warn M8000
HID conversion done right
Then probably add a rear ARB locker in the spring with some sliders. Probably wont re-gear. Thats it for now. I'm definitely excited to add a 100 to the garage!
