I am starting a patient search for just the right 45LV.

It needs to not be a basket case. It needs to be more or less unmolested stock. I prefer patina and character over repaint and resto. I prefer stock drivetrain over swap. I prefer a driver vs one that needs to be put back together. I'm looking for a survivor. I'm not looking to spend big bucks. I know I'll have to be patient... I will only buy the truck that hits all the right "buttons" for me. I know this might not ever happen but I thought I'd send the message out into the cruiser world for the cruiser gurus and gods to see...

Ohhhhhmmmmmmm....

Save me...
In my frustration over not having anything to even consider I have resorted to looking at Willys wagons (there sure are a lot more of them around)... H E L P M E !

Mark, I was looking at Paul's https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-classifieds-corner/495324-lv-project-mt.html

Gone back and forth over it in my head countless times, but I think for the purpose I intend to use it, that I might be better off with a 3rd gen 4runner, and I simply can not start this as a next project until the '64 is much farther along :frown:

Paul sent me some great pics, great info, and was great to deal with. If I was ready, this LV would be on it's way north east

Took me around 5 years to find the one that "checked" all my boxes..... these old girls are few and far between especially with your criteria, but you will find yours just gotta have a lot of patience, Good Luck:beer:

Five months doesn't sound like a patient search. But be careful. I searched for a FJ25 for years. Once I found one I ended up with four with in a couple more years:bang:

Yeah... yeah... 5 months... 5 years... time flies... I WILL wait to find a good one! In the MEAN TIME though...

Saw the one just posted here on mud... what does it take to ship a non running truck (besides $$$)?

Last I checked, besides the extra cash you mentioned (they all want extra for non runners...and some will flat out not pick up a non runner), I was told the parking brakes need to work safely. I was also told that loose parts in the truck itself would not be permitted.

Your best bet will be finding someone who transports a car or two at a time, as they will likely have more time, and patience, to pull a non runner into, or onto their trailer. I know of a local guy who spent 3 hours getting an old chevy out of a garage/barn, and into his trailer to transport back to Montreal for a client, (not many will do that)...but the farthest he's gone from Montreal is Atlanta...

Mark, You'll find it, have faith. The one thing si if it is the right one for you then it will be a desireable truck and others will jump on it. So if it is right you'll have to be able to move on it.

I am looking too and am in quandary between doing it soon and needing to put away some more money toward new family car in three years. My horizon is between now and five years. The one in Costa Rica lokos pretty good to me but not sure if it is an ok deal - there is quite a bit of non original but on other hand it is ready to run and I am looking for a daily driver and I am not likely to turn it into a show piece like most that are re done completely.

think I saw somewhere that 3 Puppies is selling one of his???
