For anyone that has installed a Loncky steering wheel cover:
  • Did you use the double sided tape they provide?
  • Is the thickness of the tape or edges noticeable through the leather?
  • Does it seem like the double sided tape would do damage upon removal?
I installed this same cover on my '13 and didn't use the tape strips, since I was concerned that they might damage the factory steering wheel. But, there was a place on the back of the "spoke" of the steering wheel where fingertips rest that wasn't tight to the factory wheel, and I wondered if it was because I didn't use the tape.

If you put it on a '16+, do the leather stitched seams line up with the wood to metal transition (it didn't on my '13).

I have a new Loncky cover for my '16 that I've put off installing, but will probably tackle this weekend, so I'm trying to get mentally prepared.

Used the tape. Certainly helps avoid rotation of the leather over time if you tend to “hang” the weight of your arm from the top of the wheel on long yrips. Tape is neither felt nor seen through the leather. I’m on an 08, so can’t comment re 16 fit… Mine was perfect, and I would expect the same if spec is for 16+. I nitial positioning is very important, especially with tape…since it will be tougher to move during stitching. As for removal damage… I doubt it. Meh… I would never want to remove it anyway. Massive improvement over stock IMO.

Will do. I don't remember the last one being especially difficult. I did remove the part with the buttons on the wheel to make it easier, but the videos show people using the provided tool to tuck it under.

Just a quick update - I didn't get around to this project over the weekend. I will update with photos and any gotchas when I do get around to it. My to-do list just exceeded the available free time. :)

I did this today. It went okay, but it doesn't look as flawless as the one I did on my old '13.

It didn't trim out as nicely around the spoke things of the wheel, and I have some wrinkles in the top part that I hope will smooth out (I might try the heat gun or some lexol).

I used the tape, it is super thin, so not noticeable like you all said. I probably should have used even more of it...

The '16 was easier to take the airbag and controls off, once I figured out the way the airbag is held on (not torx, spring clips).

Lol, do you still like the cover? The top portion of my wheel is starting to flake (the clear coat) so I wanna purchase this. I was on there reading the reviews and saw this…..

Mine's holding up well, and I'd definitely recommend them.

Holding up perfectly.
I’m a heavy arm-hanger from the top-middle of the wheel. o signs of breakdown or wear. If anything, the leather feels better over time.

Ok perfect, 2 questions:
1. Do you need to remove the center of the steering wheel?
2. Is this better in the winter for our non-heated steering wheels, because that wood is ridiculously cold.

You don’t need to remove the center. Use the plastic “knife” they include to tuck in the leather around the center

I installed the cover like two years ago. Still looks new.

I agree that you don't "need to" remove the center, but I prefer to.

What about the cold? Feel the difference? And how easy was it to remove the center portion?

You can feel the heat through the leather fine.

The leather probably feels less cold than the wood, but I imagine they are the same temperature.

Removing the airbag and controls isn't difficult, but like most things, there's a learning curve. I can have the airbag and controls off in 10-15 minutes now that I've done it. The pre '16 takes a few minutes longer because of the way the airbag attaches.

Ok thanks. I dont have a heated steering wheel just an absurdly cold one in the winter.
