Hi all. 2011 lx570 here. Heating steering not working. I hit the button and no light turns on. I swapped the fuse to no avail. What’s next?

What was the outside air temperature when you tried the heated steering wheel?

70s. Would that make a difference?

I don't remember the exact temperature, but if you check in the Owner's Manual, I'm sure one of the conditions for the heating to work on the steering wheel is that the outside temperature be below a certain temperature - maybe 40 Deg F? Bottom line is - if it's too warm outside, heater won't work.

HTH

Ah thats a relief. It was bugging me that I perceived something as non-functional. Although, I don't see it in the PDF version of the manual.

I may be wrong, but I remember it from somewhere... Can anyone else confirm?

For the record the whole steering wheel will not heat up, only the leather parts.

Just to make sure you're checking the minority of the thing that does any good.

When I bought my 2014 LX it was 85 outside and I had the AC running. Steering wheel still got warm pretty quickly.

Alright now that we know it works in warm weather. I’ve replaced the 10A mini fuse, the indicator light doesn’t come on, and it’s not getting warm. What’s my next play gang?

Anyone have a wiring diagram showing where this runs? I’d like to do some voltage tests.

I think if I had a wiring guide for the pins on the back of the combo switch unit I could figure it out. Maybe it’s just a faulty switch unit?

The switch unit part number is 84970-60140-C0 for anyone watching.

Ok so I figured out that my ECU-IG No2 fuse is pulling half voltage, 5-6v

I think this is a good clue into the issue.

The heated steering fuse was a full 12-13v

Toyota dealer said check the steering column. Nothing is screaming “heating component” at me. Anyone know where it is?

Changed the fuse 3 more times just to be safe ….. no led on button. No heat on wheel
