Mine's holding up well, and I'd definitely recommend them.

Thanks for starting this thread and for the recommendation. I just ordered the black/black 2016+ version. I do not care for the feel of the faux wood portion of the steering wheel and hopefully this cover prevents premature wear of the “leather” portions of the OEM steering wheel cover.

Holding up perfectly.
I’m a heavy arm-hanger from the top-middle of the wheel. o signs of breakdown or wear. If anything, the leather feels better over time.
Just got mine yesterday, any tips for an easy instal or things I need to watch out for?

There is no easy way. Its a tedious task, but well worth it.

Plan to spend a couple hoursq. Just make sure as you do the first section that you don’t let it work its way out of careful placement. There is more than enough thread…so if you screw up…there’s enough to re-do a section. Take your time…making sure you’re pulling it tight, but not causing the leather to overlap where it meets the wrapped other side.

Its a pain, but you’ll be glad you did it.

Oh. One thing… Make sure the stitches are on the inward side…especially at tge too. You do not want your fingers to be grabbing the tgreads as you hang the weight of your arm at the top of the wheel.

Post pics when done. ;)

Ok well it’s done…took close to 5 hrs. Looks and feels real good, nice upgrade and should be stock. Very slow process with the stitching, my god. Definitely recommend!

For anyone that has installed a Loncky steering wheel cover:
  • Did you use the double sided tape they provide?
  • Is the thickness of the tape or edges noticeable through the leather?
  • Does it seem like the double sided tape would do damage upon removal?
I installed this same cover on my '13 and didn't use the tape strips, since I was concerned that they might damage the factory steering wheel. But, there was a place on the back of the "spoke" of the steering wheel where fingertips rest that wasn't tight to the factory wheel, and I wondered if it was because I didn't use the tape.

If you put it on a '16+, do the leather stitched seams line up with the wood to metal transition (it didn't on my '13).

I have a new Loncky cover for my '16 that I've put off installing, but will probably tackle this weekend, so I'm trying to get mentally prepared.
CharlieS, can you offer pics of your '16 completed wheel cover?
Did you use the tape? Wondering if I apply tape to just the wood portion of the wheel if this will be sufficient.

Thanks, HighRanch

I did use the tape and of worked well. I used a lot, and would use more if (when) I do it again. It worked better with tape than without. The areas around, especially behind and around the "spokes" is important to make it lay flat where it is concave, and some around the circumference to resist rolling and side to side movement is good too. I don't have a picture handy, but have posted them on this forum. If needed, I could snap a few more. I'm probably going to redo this one, because I have one area where it gathered more than I'd like due to my installation technique - the first one I did (on the '13) turned out great, this one is better in some ways, slightly worse in others (100% my fault, not the product).

I think just putting tape on the wood portion may leave you disappointed.

I also use a lot of tape, well with it.

Instructions were pretty crappy, but there are Youtube videos that were very helpful.

I may pull the trigger, you still happy with yours? Still recommend lots of tape?

The one I did on my old '13 was great. I'm not entirely happy with the one on my '16, but it is completely my fault with my less than perfect installation. I keep meaning to redo it, but it is more fun to go on trips and offroad than fix it. When I get around to it, I'll use a lot of the tape.

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove center portion of steering wheel?

Thanks for the info. I'll dedicate a day to do it slowly and use lots of tape. Did everyone order straight from loncky or amazon?

Very easy to remove. quick you tube video. Just remember to put the steering wheel exactly where you want it for installation of the leather cover before you disconnect the negative terminal.

Ask me how i know. haha;)

LOL, that red center marker would be an OCD trap for me, and after each alignment!

FYI, removal varies on before and after facelift. Before facelift was torx bolts from behind, Facelift has metal spring clips holding the airbag in also accessed from behind. The first time I took it off, it was difficult. Once I realized how it was connected, it was easy.

It isn't a day worth of project. Maybe an hour or two if you go slow. It would take a lot of #6 breaks for it to fill a day.
