Concrete - can you substantiate that?

I'm getting that from an article a read a few years back in a popular mechanic mag. It was mostly talking about things like northstar in the GM products and how they have been used by rental agencies to track rental cars and issue fines to renters when they speed or go outside their "permitted" area. Also in the article it pointed to how the government could acquire this information if they were watching you or something. That's all.

So this is a complte alarm system I assume? If there's an aftermarket alarm already in place, does the LoJack have to replace this system completely?

Also, I'd like to hear more about the "cell" version. I assume this is basically a cell phone with a built in GPS that the driver would hide somewhere with the ringer off? Ofcourse, the cell phone would be connected to a constant hot source for always on.

I've looked into a similar system here. First, it is not an alarm and may have no theft deterant if there is no sign. The system is designed to go to work when the truck has been taken, not before.

The system I looked at had two versions. One was a passive system where you had to notifty the company that the vehicle was gone. The newer system would self notify the company if they truck (transmitter) and a special active key fob were in different places (ie someone is towing your truck away while you sleep).

I'm not sure what technology the lojack sytem uses, but the cell systems simply use a cell phone transmission to send data, etc (vs. using sat systems, etc). It's still a hidden system. It's not hooked up to a 'phone'.

Cheers, Hugh
