This thread will be updated as new info becomes available. (prices, registration, food, etc...)

SPECIFICALLY REGARDING THE VEHICLE INSPECTION:

Page 1 is "Minimum Vehicle Requirements". Everything on page 1 is required to be in compliance or else you will not be allowed to wheel at this event. That's this page:

ONSC-Inspection-Form-P1.jpg

Page 2 is "Evaluated Items". This section is at the discretion of the inspector. For example, if everything on Page 1 and 2 are good except you have an egregious fluid leak, you will fail the inspection and not be allowed to wheel at this event. Alternately, if everything on page 1 and 2 are good except you don't have a radio or a winch, you will pass. Page 2 is this one:

ONSC-Inspection-Form-P2.jpg

It is REQUIRED to have everything on Page 1 and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have everything on Page 2. These rules exist not only to ensure the safety of our drivers, but also ensure that we Tread Lightly.

If you have any specific questions, hit me up!!

Time to start working on the ebrake :)

Heather's E-brake cable was sitting on the porch when we got back from Alabama last night :)
Unfortunately the 3 cables I already have are for drum brake trucks so needed a new one.

I need to look at the rest of the list but I think we are covered. We are hoping that we can get there on Fri some time before dark and stay to Sun if we can pull it off. Every time we have been to the barn and Uh it has been a one day thing with a 2.5 hour drive on each end.

A CB is required? Izzy a CB is easy

Does anyone's ebrake work on an 80? Anyway, no CB, so I am out

You've got a few months and handhelds (as well as some other small units) can be picked up quite cheaply. I HIGHLY recommend NOT missing LR.

 R

Yes, my brake functions. I replaced every damn bit of it 2 years ago. Had to snug up the cable on the lever end to finally get it working.

My 40, on the other hand, has all the rebuild parts sitting there staring at me like all the other parts on the shelf.

Still need another fire extinguisher to be compliant.

$35 handheld CB gets you by. That's what I did until I go HAM.
I know there has been a lot of talk on radio standards, but it would be nice to see that public. CB is definitely easier to require. HAM is definitely better. Perhaps CB is required, HAM is recommended alongside CB?

Pawn shop, $25. Just be sure to confirm they will take back if unit does not work.

Planning to attend again this year and making it 2 years in a row.

Can't wait. My son and I had a blast last year.

EDIT:
Put more detailed response in the first post regarding radios.

FOR AUTOMATIC VEHICLES:

The inspection requirements were pulled from the TLCA and are somewhat dated. As such, the "parking brake" test is impossible to conduct on an automatic. From page 1 above:

"Parking Brake: Must be able to stall engine when idling in 3rd gear (2nd gear if 3 speed)."

As such, the ONSC BOD has been interpreting this rule to mean that any automatic vehicle that has an operational "Park" (every single 80, 100, etc.) automatically passes this requirement.

That said, it's always a good idea to have a functional emergency brake :D

So with a fire breathing 6BT and straight drive you're out of luck.

I'll bring a Hi-lift but there is no way in hell I'm going to use it. Just an accident waiting to happen. I'll stick with my bottle jack and a 2x6.

 No, you just need to have good brakes to compensate.

Any kind of jack that can get a tire off the ground will pass inspection, bottle jack, hi-lift or otherwise!
