Recently picked up some hubs from mile marker #466 The problem I have is that when mounted I can't put the snap ring on the end of the stub shaft. Is this the case with the mile marker hubs or are the aisin hubs the only ones that work for an 88 fj62. would have reused the stock hubs but PO does not know how to properly torque the spindle nuts and fried both hubs. any help is greatly appreciated

This is just a guess. There is a threaded hole in the end of the stub shaft. install an appropriately sized bolt and use it to pull the front axle outboard enough to get the snap ring installed...assuming that's the problem.

If the birf is not long enough to install the snap ring then a 8mm bolt and proper size washer is the solution....

I'm with 2MBB, stick a 8x1.25 bolt in the hole on the end of the birfield and give it a pull. You even need to do this with AISIN hubs.

Now, your problem. The "spindle nuts" have nothing to do with the hubs as they are installed inboard of the hub. Got pics of the problem?

They are listed as working from 76 to 85..

So, most likely they are the long body design and Grant has it right. Fender washer and a bolt..

Thanks for the info on the bolt and washer. And for those who were curious the spindle nuts had come completely off the spindle and fused themselves to the free spinning hub therefore locking both together. For anyone having vibrations in the front end this could be a possible culprit. I discovered all of these issues just because I needed to replace the inner axle seal. Glad i did or could have ended up losing a wheel going around a corner since the preload bearing nut was flush with the end of the spindle as well. Again i appreciate all of the info on this issue and hopefully this will keep a couple of other people safe if they have similar issues. Now go explore the backcountry and enjoy what is left of nature

You would think Mile Marker would include the bolt & washer like Warn does.....

They did include the bolt and washer. But at the time I did not know what the washer was for since on all of my other rides i was able to use the snap ring. And for an update got them installed last night and will test them out later today to see how well they work. Doubt they are as stout as aisins, but should last as I don't wheel the cruiser hard since it is my DD and reliable exploration rig

Thanks for all the help and info. was able to test them out tonight and jeez what a difference a Knuckle rebuild with new rotors brakes and bearings and hubs makes she is as smooth as silk and cured all but the little bit of rear noise that is from the rear bearings needing replacing (coming soon) then can really get to the backcountry.

Yea I think the rear will be 10 times easier than the front. And will be tackling that in the up coming weekend or 2 since I have a 600 mi road trip soon. And since we are on this does anyone sell a complete rear bearing kit including seals or will I just have to get the parts individually?

After doing the front axel rebuild, the rear axel bearings will be cake.
whats you plan on how to remove the rear bearings?

Individual .....readily available at most parts stores.....

Will probably rent a bearing puller from one of the local parts stores. And hopefully I won't have to break out the torch to heat them up. I ran into that on one of my buddies chevys a couple of years ago.
