exactly :bang: Good and bad news is it's going to be a few years till I'm in the position to have to make up my mind...

TJM has to go into a FF axle. If I was going FF then I'd want an elocker, that is until I read this thread. Now I'm not so sure. Thats all I know.
OP stated he has a FF axle so this is not a concern. The options are larger for the locker.

You can try my hj with front and rear lockers, winch, sandladders, hi-lift, air jack, ground anchor.

Don't do a lot of difficult off road - don't rock crawl - I went with a "lunch box" in the front. I can always disengage the front hubs if needed. No locker in rear 12K winch with appropriate recovery gear.
I realize a front lunchbox locker in front can cause steering issues but knowing this going in and being aware of it when I driving, I really can''t complain. If I had unlimited funds I'd probably go with e-locker or cable locker front and rear 'cause I think it'd be cool to have.

Winches are neat and make your rig look pretty. I've had one for nearly 30 years and use it so seldom that it makes me wonder why it hangs out up there on the front bumper. I've used my winch more to help other people than for my own recovery. Maybe used it a dozen times in total.

Lockers on the other hand are simple unseen accessories that get used on almost every outing. Get the locker(s) first. You can add a winch later. After all, a winch is just a bolt-on.
