I have decided that I will never take the truck back to the stealership. Everytime I take the truck in they mess things up. Once they replaced the alternator, and we had to take it back in the next day. The reason: the brake caliper was loose and the screw had been stripped. They had to retap it: $200. They should have payed for it because the only way you can strip that screw is when the wheels are off, and it wasnt messed up before. Yesterday when I got it back, still in the lot, the speedometer wasnt working, so I turned around and told them. They said that if i brought in monday they would fix it. I got home took the dash off the speedometer cable wasnt pluged in, fixed in 5-10 mins: $0 They didnt even fix the thing that they took it off in the first place. So I need some help. my dashboard lights/shifter box lights arnt coming on. my dad has replaced them before so i think there okay. what should i do?

well this is DD and sometimes I drive at night, I was just thinking of strapping like some led above the steering wheel(the thing that moves it up and down)

well the only light coming from the whole console area is the clock, and the blinker lights,and the brake light sign so im thinking more of a fuse or something but the fuses are all ok
I re-read your first post - sounds like the last thing done to your truck before the dash lights quite working was that you pulled the instrument panel to reconnect the speedo cable? If that's right, then I'd pull the instrument panel again to look at the wiring. Most likely you bumped someting by accident, and a wire or two is unplugged. It's tight in there, so it's easy to see how this could happen.
Maybe the harness isn't plugged in at all..........or at least loose

Make sure all the harnesses are pligge din and also that you didn't accidently turn down your dimmer switch.
I'm w/ lovetoski. Take down the dash...take your time and make sure you get all the screws so you don't crack any plastic on the instrument panel. There's some sneaky tabs hiding here and there. An FSM will help w/ the screw locations. ANyhow...I bet they didn't plug all of the looms on the harness, especially if they forgot the speedo. That or bulb has fallen out of it's rightfull socket.

how do you pull the entire guage cluster on a 60? I want to swap my bulbs as well since some are out. Any tips? any pics?!? Thanks guys!

Lower the steering wheel as low as it will go.
Remove 4 screws that hold cluster assembly in place in dash frame.
Gently pull guage cluster towards you.
Remove the speedo cable from the back of the speedo if you need/want to pull the cluster closer towards you. (The speedo cable has a plastic end, with a clip that you squeeze to release it from the speedo head.)
With the guages facing down, and the back of the guage cluster facing up, you can now easily remove/replace the dash bulbs.
Putting the cluster back in is a little trickier (on my 6 anyway) because you need to fiddle around to get the wires to all fit into a small space. A little patience, and it all works eventually.
The speedo cable can be tricky when putting the dash back in. Make sure you snap the plastic coupling all the way on. It's tight if you have hands larger than the average 10 year old. Also be careful not to tear the rubber beauty piece that goes between the bottom of the cluster and the column.
