God how I admire you guys with skills.
Congrats on that solid result and love the statement those shackles make.

Once you overcame the OEM shackles...
How long did the install take and were there any "Oh S@&#" moments?

Just for the record, please update your post with make/model of those springs so that other wrenchers can follow your lead. Would also be nice to know what shocks you're running.

If you do decide on going to 31's, let me/us know the flavor. I'm now hoping that somebody will slash my 28's and force me to go sooner.

Thank you Jason!

OK Mudders, you've now got some options.

Thanks Don, this is either my 8 or 9th spring install and must say it was the easiest as well.

Start to finish ( not including drive time) 8:00AM to 1:10PM

I'm not crazy about the shackles, would have preferred OEM or OME over these. VERY BULKY AND CLUMSY. Material is soft and the threads pulled on a couple of the pins. I don't beat my shackles on. Instead I tighten the nut to pull the pins and bushings up against the plate. Then back the nut off and finish the install. The grease zerk fittings are inset into the nut and my grease gun fitting won't fit on them to initially grease or perform future maintenance. I will more than likely trash these and call Kurt for OME shackles or source some used OEM rear shackles (my fronts are in great condition to re-use)

I'm using a Monroe Gas-Matic plus shocks ( 23$ each from RockAuto, IIRC) and a Monroe steering stabilizer (RockAuto) as well.

As stated previously, these are KSI springs and once I get more miles on them I will decide if I want to pursue stocking and selling these. So far its looking good.

I love that they were either equal or within an 1/8" right out of the gate with no manipulation/re-arching etc... from the warehouse.
That tells me a lot about the makers technique, design and materials.

I think the 30s are here to stay. IMO, on any DD or light duty cruiser, BFG AT is the only way to go. The 31s are wider and will rob more fuel mileage and power than I'm willing to part with.

Thanks,

J

Would anyone mind telling me what size my leafs/shackels are? 2.5"/3" im guessing. Question: I'm replacing these...if they are 3" would it matter if I get 2.5"? Also, any suggestions as to what to get? Is the consensus...."call Kurt"?? Thanks in advance!!!

Reviving this thread due to it's relevance.

I know it's been talked to death, but I'm still looking for the elusive stock height reproduction spring.

SOR is out since I only want the springs plus my money tree isn't bearing any fruit yet. KSI's website only lists HJ60 springs, but my understanding is they're different because of the added weight of the 2H.

I've spent the morning calling around to spring shops, and everything available comes from Dayton Parts (90-112 front, 90-105 rear). After calling Dayton, I found out that their springs come from a company called Linale Manufacturing in Omaha, NE which I can't find out much about, other than a few favorable reviews on Google, and they seem like strictly a manufacturer, so I believe they are the actual source. I also found out from the nice gentleman in tech support at Dayton, the springs they sell have the correct number of leafs, close enough measurements, and the correct reinforcements on the eyes, so they do seem like a viable replacement. I'm mostly wondering if anyone has used these Dayton brand springs and if they'd recommend them.
