I'm tired of the poor light quality my 80 puts out even with good bulbs and cleaning the original assembly. Looking for thoughts, preferences, and recommendations between installing a light bar or a new headlight assembly.

I know that Rigid and Baja Designs are good when it comes to the light bars, but I haven't started researching any headlight kits yet.

Thanks!

Slee harness and 9011/9012 HIR's? Just doing the bulbs is a cheap start, Slee harness doesn't break the bank either. I'm pretty happy w/ my setup but like the updated look of Depo's, not sure I'm ready to spend the $ yet.

I wasn't sure the harnesses actually did anything. But you think it's a better starting place or would even valuable even if I end up replacing the headlights?

Are you still running stock headlights? Rig looks good!
It's got Sylvania SilverStar ULTRA's at the moment. zXe's would have been a good choice too. That's what I run in my 94. I put a bunch of money/effort into some retro's in my Tacoma and I just didn't want to embark on that kind of journey again; at least not yet. The lights shown on the 97 are all Rigids and they are bright.

Plastic lenses, they're terrible. My cruiser came with them installed so I don't know how old they were, but they were shot when I got it. The lenses were hazed over and the polish kit didn't work. The adjusters were stuck and they threw light everywhere, a lot of it straight up. It illuminated snowflakes so bad that I couldn't drive it when it was snowing. I actually shut my lights off and drive on the dark using the moonlight off of the snow. I went from 3ft of visibility to about 300ft. I can do those sort of things in rural Iowa at 2am and I'm the only car on the road surrounded by wide open fields lol. The pic doesn't do it justice, but I could barely see past my hood. Depos or stock are really the only option, imo.

You can kind of see how crappy and faded they are in this pic

Do you have a link to the Depos?

Add more lights!

Ebay seller "neondials" often has the glass lens DEPO's available.

I LOVE my DEPO's with HID retrofit, amazing light output, makes the IFP aux lights on my bumper nearly redundant. Here's an old pic of the headlights.

The HIR's certainly provide added light and I'd say they are the easiest/ cheapest first step. Even if it isn't exactly what you want it's an improvement until you get stadium lights bolted to your bumper. You can also Step 6 when complete as it is a "mod".

The Slee harness draws power direct from the battery and is fresh new wiring vice the stuff original to your rig, so added light output is the benefit. There are also a couple extra connectors on the harness to add aux lights of whatever nature suits your needs. Not sure how it would integrate w/ Depos as it's not something I've looked at. I'd defer to others w/ that setup to comment if that is the path you're marching down.

I literally just installed depos, and put LED H1s and H4s in them super bright, then added 2 rigid 1600lumen and 2 riigid duallies SS perfect.

How is the light pattern with LEDs?
Its perfect, I took ALL your advice as far as innovative harnesses worked perfect and h 1-4 perfect. heres a close up
