Need to rig up something to mount the license plate lights and camera until I find a replacement.

Definitely a bad case of cancer there

yikes. if you haven't already unscrew the trim piece at the rear edge of your trunk and see how it looks under the carpet...

Now my teeth hurt.

Do you still have brake lines?

Keep in mind, these rust holes and any in rear area near exhaust tail pipe or exhaust leaks. Found in places like: gate, hatch and 1/4 tips bottoms back of rear tires. Exhaust fumes will enter cabin from these, as will from open rear wing windows (see OM: never have open engine running).

Tips:
  • Do not park, idling engine.
  • Use outside air vent of HVAC and cabin fan on. Helps keep positive pressure in cabin and freas air flowing in.
  • Temporally fill cavities, with spray in foam. Like Great stuff window & door. To create air tight barrier.

kinda late, but the seal around the 3rd brake light is most likely leaking

I think they come with rust installed at the factory. I noticed a rust spot on my LX470 from TX that turned out to be sizeable area and required metal to be welded in to completely remove.. I do not think that vehicle was ever exposed to a grain of salt. The underside looked like a new truck. It turned out that wiring in the tailgate was wrapped with some type of cloth tape that reminds me of Tesa Tape. Car wash soap entered the tailgate area and clung to the cloth tape via a cracked rear wiper arm grommet. I think the grommet may have cracked open from excessive sunlight and heat exposure. The wet cloth tape rubbed against the tailgate and started a rust spot.
