Super glue as in it always stays open or always stays closed :grinpimp:? Apparently you can add some super glue the shaft and it gets more "sticky"...do a search on liftgate strut for more info.

I think MAF sells replacements, but in looking at their site seems to only be 60 series. I need some as well.

Put a few drops at the collar, let dry and close the hatch. You should get a distinct crack as in the glue breaking. Subsequent openings and closings should be reasonably normal though there will be a little resistance initially, i.e., the hatch will feel a bit heavier to open and close. It doesn't take long to go to a normal feel and operation. Mine lasted more than 8 months but some dingbat parking valet smashed my rear into a concrete pillar and bent my doors. The lift gate stays began to feel a bit soft at about 8.5 months so I squirted a bit more superglue to the same place. It's working well for me currently though my doors are still bent. I have'nt had time to fix them.

I think it says ground shipping is included in the price? I believe they will have to be shipped ground since they are gas struts. Just my .02

Bought a pair from my local carquest that fit fine but actually lifted the door about 3 inches higher which was great for not getting hit in the head. If you interested I try to dig up the part number.

yes please!

Yes that would be great, mine act up when its cold out and I have hit my nogin more than once.

people are parting 80's all the time...you could pick some up for $10. Put up a wanted ad or find an 80 being parted.

Yeah, post it up! A couple more inches would be great, I am always ducking as I go under my open hatch, being 6'-2".

I did this last February so it has taken some time to recall but here it is if you go into a carquest the number that comes up for your lc is a 4526 by strong arm. It actually lowered the lift gate. The number I used was 4331 by strongarm.
Pertinent data:
4526 16.25" extended 10.90 collasped
4331 17.60" extended 11.30 collasped

Now ther is a little modifying using your old supports two bolt mount and drilling it for the new ball and socket I can take a picture when I get a chance but not a big deal. Im not good at the picture theing let me know if you want it.

Anyone find a good substitute for replacing the rear hatch struts? Thought I remember someone finding some on eBay or something, I'm tired of getting hit in the head when it's cold :frown:

Just posted my findings a couple minutes ago...
Look at this post- Cheap hatch lift replacement

The only difference is I used a ball and socket type connection as opposed to the bolt and Added the extra extended length.
