Hello 100 series LX owners. i retrofitted my 03 LX470 with SC430 projectors with a clear lens. The mod was very simple & bolted right on.

The lx & sc have similar projectors. What I was planning on doing was just swapping out projector bowl since the mounting points are same. I mouthed together the sc bowl to the LX projectors and didn't like the output. Here's a pic of the output

Now I just put the SC projectors together and was blown away from the output. So I got the dremel out & got to cutting.

Next thing was to take the LX projector out & cut the actual projector out. So this how it will look when you done. You need the plate

Separate the projectors and insert the plate in between. you just gotta put a slit in the projectors on one side where the screw holes are & all just simply line up.

Then I had to cut a slit for the igniter to connect to the headlight. Drill holes on the bottom for the ballast & screwed to the bottom. Nice & secure

Looks like it's enough room for a perfect fit. Test fitted & the ballast fits perfectly. Headlight mounts perfect. Next is to put the lenses back on & put it all back together

Lights are in & everything works fine. Then put all the trimmings back and my truck looks like I never took it apart. Now wait till night to take some output pics

More output pics. Also I forgot to mention I also installed CBI bulbs & waiting for them to actually turn

Actually it's no kit involved. The LX projector & bracket is all 1 piece. You just need to cut the projector out & try not to damage the bracket. All screw holes line up. But you gotta put a slit in the projector on one side where the screw holes are& everything will hookup perfectly

Could you provide a pats list? I would like to convert my 2000 LX470 to this configuration.
  • Where did you buy the SC430 projector assembly from? A link and part number would be great. Was it OEM Toyota?
  • Did you have to buy a new HID power source to drive your lights? Was it OEM toyota? My genre of LX470 has a halogen bulb.
  • Which CBI bulb did you buy?
I just bought a set of interior LED lights from PFRAN, a very nice interior lighting upgrade.

Thanks! Great write-up.

Good work!

What is the advantage of the SC430 projectors vs a TSX lens swap (w/ spacers) on the existing projectors?

LX470 Projector - TSX-R Lens Swap

The advantage of the SC430 swap as I see it is that the spec'd Xenon lamp, projector and lens were designed to work together to provide good coverage, focus, edge sharpness, etc. The TSX-R lens swap uses shims between lens and existing LX470 projector to improve the focus and coverage. And, with the TSX solution you're dealing with a stock LX projector that wasn't designed to take a Xenon bulb...you can make it work, but it was designed for 55w halogen.

While I like the SC430 swap, it's a lotta dough when you see the prices the units get on ebay. And, it still requires getting the headlight on your LX apart by using heat to soften the adhesive.
