Hey Guys,

So after my previous post, where I layed out two options. I bought the following LX470: Lexus LX 470 2000 - Classic Car Auctions - https://www.classiccar-auctions.com/nl/lot-details/28005/lexus-lx-470-2000/
I paid a little more than it shows here, but the front seats and the console have been redone with new leather. Also he put in 2 back seats again, so it's as it was originally. The frame etc are rust free though and it runs beautifully. Will replace the radiatior, timing belt, water pump, t-plugs, spark plugs and will refresh the oil etc. The car is being "imported" and all the European specs are being installed, so don't actually have it yet.

Couple questions though, I hope you guys can help me out. Still pretty new to the Land Cruiser/LX470 community, but already digging into youtube tutorials etc. Trying to climb to that top league (give me some time though)!

1) the door handle seems to be showing some corrosion. Any way to fix that?
2) at the type indication letters on the back, there's a little rust around the edges. Any tips on how to effectively nail that in the butt?
3) any other things that stand out in your opinion?

Thanks a lot! Hope you guys have some golden tips!

Unless I missed it in the listing, I did not see a full underside picture of the rig.

The emblems on the back are affixed with double sided tape, except for the Lexus logo, which has locating pins and tape. They should not have any rust in this area. It could just be dirty. Look closer once you take possession.

Did the seller provide any service history?

Emblems aren't a usual place for rust to show up, I'd pull them off and inspect more. Door handle either really, might just be grease from inside. Pulling that apart is more involved with the door panel.

There's a carfax, dealer maintained, except for the last 2 years. And seeing the rest of the car, it's in pretty good condition for 260K! Always southern owned, and some minor leakage from the radiator. Apart from the car sounds/looks and drives very well.

Might it be something else than rust maybe?

it could just be dirt/tree sap/mildew.

Hi not sure about your door latch but I'm sold on Corroseal if there's any rust on the body . Just sand it as normal, brush on a couple of coats of Corroseal, sand between each then prime and touch up usual. Rust won't come back!

Any idea how to " touch up"? Is there a way I can get the same color? Cheers

I used these guys to get small quantities for some repairs I need to do and to paint my fabricated bumpers to match my trim. No review yet on how the color matches doing the big parts, but for the small parts I sprayed it didn't seem too far off. They can do paint pens, spray cans, or larger qtys like pints or quarts if you have a spray gun.

Much appreciated! Worth a shot!
