Only got a few pics.
I removed the rear door trim and used this as the template for the relacement trim then made a second one but around 1'' smaller in width . used a full length paino hinge stainless steel.
then used some 1'' webbing for the table straps and some small bunji straps to retain the table in the up position.

clear as mud!.

Here is mine.....it is a slow work in progress......

It is a minimalist expedition rig.

Not a great picture I know, better ones to come

The last one is before the latest upgades

Whats the story on those black steel wheels?

Love the look. Are they weaker than the stock rims?

I am just now getting around to installing a GPS unit on my 87 FJ60 set up for expeditions. I purchased a Lowrance Global Map Baja 540C a couple of years ago and I planned to hard-wire it on the dash. However, a couple of questions first:

  • Have any of you permanently mounted a GPS unit on your dash? If so, could you post photos of the finished project?
  • Do any of you know a source for detailed, preloaded regional maps that I could upload via SD media card to my 540C? (I need detailed maps for California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Arizona and Lowrance no longer sells the detailed area maps for the 540C on their website.)
Any help you all couple provide would be greatly appreciated!

Lowrance units I have no clue about. I know free maps are available for Garmin units. Some projects also make them available for other GPSes. The reason Garmin has them available is somebody reverse engineered the Garmin map data format early on. Some other GPSes have had reverse engineering done for them, but the reverse engineering having been done latter, they don't have the momentum found for Garmin. GPSFileDepot has lots of maps for many places all over the world for Garmin.

Long Live Land Cruisers!

Love the thread! I would post a link, but I have not started
my build thread yet. Waiting on the sliders and them will begin.

Here are a couple of shots of my baby! Purchased her for her room,
and with 4 kids room is essential! Have added a DVD player and a fold-down
9.5" widescreen for the kids, air compressor, and my list is quite
large and expensive. Years to come, I expect...

The first picture is from a trip to Reno, NV to visit with my in-laws who
drove up from SoCal. Locals kept getting in the way, buy my
daughters loved it!

Second pic is from a trip out while visiting my mom in Central CA.
Bald Mountain.

Third pic is about an hour from home, here in Idaho.
NF377 a ways down the trail from Arrowrock Lake.

We explore every chance we have...

I love this truck!
