Great pics Matt, thanks for contributing!

Let's see if I can pressure RambleWriter to post up, this way he can tell us about the build and what is planned since rumor goes that he's selling it.

It is for sale . . . . just need to pick it up somewhere in Peru :D

Beautiful 60! :D

Now everyone, just a polite reminder, this is not a "For Sale" thread. I put up Ramble Writer's rig b/c of the stories about and behind the vehicle, not intending and highly unsure if it helped in the sale at all*, in fact I edited my post after finding that they were selling it. I don't want a bunch of people taking advantage of that mistake.

If however you want to contribute to this thread and this site and give us a story first and specs, I see no problem later on down the road asking for the OK to put it is for sale.

I am not trying to be a dick, I just see it unfair since all of the 7 posts the above new member/person has are solely for sale posts about said rig. In other words, even though it looks to be a nicely built. one, I think it best to be "all fair" and apologize for any confusion I might have created.

I'm not trying to burn you here, just keep things in line.

MMM-K?

*Nick, if it helped I want 10% commission! :D

Build generator storage box
Add 4 x 33 inch tyres on toyota factory rims (Compatible with landcruiser)
Add bracket for hennessy hammock pole on back

Camping Equipment:

Allright, it's getting to where there's more and more daylight again, let's see what everyone's done while holed up over the Winter in preparation for the Springtime trips!

I guess it's my turn

I've started a poorly-maintained buildup thread in the 40/55-series area (https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/300813-fantastic-distraction-72-v8j40-buildup-thread.html) but my total intent with this rig is to build an expedition/Scouting/backpacking base of operations truck, so I decided to post up on here.

1972 FJ40, I'm probably the twelfth owner, bought her with a Chevy 350, okie wiring, and the classic coast-cancer weight-management program. I named her "Phoenix" after a lake in Nevada County, CA I backpacked to, I chose the name because I bought the truck to bring me back. Even though I've gotten more than my fair share of headaches out of this, I love this little beastie, and I wouldn't trade her in for the world, to me, she means freedom, and a reason to keep going.

anyway, enough with the words, time for some pics, don't have too many, and since this one was taken, I've cut out the driver and passenger's floorpan, and the rockers (they mostly fell out on their own.)

'85 sunrader

22r, 5sp, FF dually, supposedly one of about 30 factory 4x4 sunraders built.
Used it stock for the last 2 years and just starting on my build, got the whole interior gutted now, will post a build thread sometime soon. many plans...
Def not as hard care as other rigs here, but the amenities sure are nice!

Here is my new expo rig. Started to tear down my 60 for a full expo build, but came across this and cannot help myself. Just picked it up from a lady that absolutely loved it, but never used it and sat for three years. Towed it home and it fired right up when we charged the battery.

20r and 4 speed swapped for a 20/22r hybrid and 5spd.

Immaculate condition!

Plans to do some minor dry rot work, redo cabinets, heavier suspension (maybe rear airbags), 32's, lots of metal work, anti theft work, dual batteries, gut the blue interior, paint white, possible regear and rear ARB if funds allow, and of course hardwood floors!

Oh and my 79 TT500 on the back! After it gets its XT Enduro conversion.

That "chinookie" is in incredible shape, most of them are so beat. And 4wd too.
Score!!
Keep us posted on the build!

Scotty, I am loving the personalized plate. We gotta meet up sometime just to swap stories and let me drool over that new toy!
*The TT5's just icing on the cake, old school style for sure. :)

Yeah they are actually both the same year 1979. 6 years older than me and in better shape!

Would be happy to meet sometime. Are you around Placerville? Would be happy to have you come by the shop some time.

Scott
