Looking for a roof rack for my fj40. Leaning towards a flat rack to use my rtt from my other cruiser. What racks are you running? Bought, built? Yakima rack? Looking for ideas. Post up pics of you got them.

Had a conferr on my 60. Thought about buying a diamondrax version but looks like diamondrax has closed its doors as of 5/2019.

Dang, that sucks

Home made alu clamps and wood cross bars, not a big job to build a basket if needed. Tested to 350-400lb

I did just like Jim did but with Conferr style clamps and 1x2" steel tubing. Works great for the RTT and other stuff too.

Thule towers and crossbars. Rack built out of 3/4” box steel spaced up with a 2x4. Spacers made of 1/2” solid round stock going into 1/2” holes. The lower tubes are covered by expanded sheet metal.

Originally built as a rack that went from windshield to the factory roll bar. Later I attached aluminum sheet to the bottom to make a rigid ‘Bikini’ top... it would be an uncomfortable bikini, but made for an awesome summer roof for many years. I removed the sheet metal to mount it to the roof. Being only 3” high, and barely clearing the roof allows the truck to still fit into the ~7’ garage door.

I’d start by checking out the gutter mounts that Mark’s Off Road sells.

I built mine before we left for the Rubithon a few years ago. Had a muffler shop bent some square tubing mocked everything up and used muffler c clamps to bolt it to the roll bar then mounted my high lift on the back

Gorgeous 40 and rack! Watch out for the sharks there on the east coast... things are getting sporty out there.
