Preventative Maintenance.
The throttle cable from the firewall to the injection pump is frayed beyond repair and sticks. I guess after 20 years about 225,000 miles it's about due. A bushing at the end of the sleeve wore out and began fraying the cable. It stuck a little last fall but i thought it was due to the linkage part of the system, the fray was hidden inside the sleeve. I lubed everything up and the problem went away. So on the way back from campus yesterday it began sticking again. When i got back to the house I took a closer look and noticed the fray.
Oh well, it failed due to my negligence so I guess I’m to blame. Ralph Hayes can't get it for me unfortunately, so i have to get one from Canada. But the cruiser will likely be grounded until new part.
i am going to try and make a temporary fix until then but it's not looking good.
*sigh*
