This is my first land cruiser. As far as rust, interior, and engine conditions go this thing is a dang gem.

I have been working on it in my spare time for the better part of 3 years and in that time I have replaced:

Rebuilt knuckles
Brake master cylinder
Spark plugs/cables
Brake lines
Carburetor
Distributor
Starter
Fusible links @CruiserTrash
Radiator hoses
Oil pan gasket
Valve cover gasket
Vacuum lines and VCV(x2)

Can anyone help me identify what this is part of/ what it should be doing? It doesn't seem right just hanging out right there..

It goes along the firewall to the other side, and connects to the firewall-side of the T-junction at the top of the fuel canister.

So it looks like it should connect to the float chamber on your carburetor.

You'll want to go here and grab the emissions manual:

Does anyone know if it's normal to plumb a carb for these holes? It seems like it's possible but I'm absolutely in the dark about it and I don't know what to do about getting the last of these lines connected in a proper way.

Where are you located? This looks either a reproduction or non-US carb. The empty hardline you questioned is the fuel evap canister outlet to the carb. You’re also missing vacuum hose fittings on the carb. If you are in the US and need to pass an emissions test, that carb won’t work sadly.

Can you tell us more about the truck and your location? That will help a lot. Maybe you don’t need those things!

I'm in Utah. I bought the truck from a nice old Hispanic fella. I replaced the carb with one on eBay that looked exactly like the one I removed but I didn't know enough about the situation at the time. I've ordered an OEM Aisan from national carburetor today.

Finally finished replacing all of the vacuum lines... Well, almost. What's is this thingy? I'm assuming it needs a vacuum hose to somewheres...
