Funny, I bought a new chair for this trip as well. It has two cupholders... it knows me well.

I think it'll be worth it. One of those luxury items that you'll never regret bringing despite it taking up extra space. Having a comfortable spot to sit is fairly important, to me at least.

Agree. Just returned a pretty pricey swinging chair because while it was a great idea, it just didn't fit my largeness. Was looking at the one on my porch thinking I already have one, so it's FREE.

A good place to recline is kind of a big deal after all-day-driving trips.

I have to rethink my loadout. I was planning on loading a few things (camp table, axe, shovel, gas can) on the roof rack on top of Alu-Cab tent, but with all that up there i can't open the tent. Even with an empty gas can, it's just to heavy.
I wouldn't think those things would be too heavy to lift, but i had to shift the placement of the tent forward in order to clear the tailgate spoiler, but my arms are now too extended for me to generate enough force to lift it.
I'm going to have to leave a few things at home, including my rotopax 4gal gas can.

Are you bringing any spare fuel?
Might be a good idea to.

I know I need to, just not sure how I'm going to do it.

Yeah, if one of you is willing to bring an extra can, that would be great!

Have any of you tried one of these? I modded mine so it has a length of rigid pex tube that goes into the can and lengthened the hose a bit so I don’t have to take my cans off the truck. Beginning to end, I can dump 5 gallons before most people can get their can off their truck and spout put in.

@TonyP , it has been a while since I did the starter, but I recall the heat shields are the worst part. I used a 10mm ratchet wrench on a few blind bolts . I didn't remove the manifold, just moved it out of the way. The day before spray the exhaust bolts y pipe up to manifold with pb blaster, kroil, or free all. Have some adult beverages on hand

They do work pretty well...except for the one that fell apart on Tony while at Top of the World (carry huge zip-ties...they can push plastic thingies through fill tubes :) :).
We use those to refuel ultralight aircraft that are legally limited to 10 gallon tanks.

I'll be carrying 12 gallons of fuel via Rotopax, and it sounds like it might be good to have according to Cole's mention of a 200+ mile stretch without stations.

Would consider upping that to 19 gallons by attaching my 3 jerry-jan basket (plus the one rotopax behind my spare makes 19) if we feel it is needed. Would rather just do the 12, but am willing...

I'll be in San Felipe/Bahia de Los Angeles/Santa Rosalita from March 28-April 1 if yall need parts or cold beer or anything brought down. I go to baja about once a month if I can make it happen. A 200 mile range is necessary but you won't have to worry about anything over that. Have a great trip!! Got your back if you need anything.

I'll keep working on a solution for my gas can, but it's nice to have a backup.
Thanks

I wasn't planning on bringing fuel (because well, enough of you were!), though if an empty 4gal rotopax makes it down here I'll throw it up on top of mine and bring for us.

We should exchange info before this trip.
