Another 1st timer. Booked same place, my backup option if the wife comes along. If not, will try and secure a tent site somewhere with others.1st timer here! We are booked at the Ouray Inn as well. I emailed them and asked for confirmation on their cancellation policy, they promptly replied. 48 hours notice for full refund. Obviously I hate to even think that way, but wanted to make sure if something gets sideways with COVID we don't get hung.
Really looking forward to this!
Nothing like basically giving yourself a countdown timer for your repairs and upgrades...
@YieldHunter found this info for you. Fly Fishing. Along Uncompahgre river which passed through Town of Ouray. The reservoir in Ridgway State Park is a popular area. Also a fly shop/guided tour found in Ridgway CO. If you camped in Ridgway State Park, it's just a short hike to the reservoir.Does anyone have a rec on campsite w/in reasonable daily hiking distance of a good spot to fly fish (wade preferred, bank okay)? Never been to the area. My wife and I are avid fly fishers, and in order to get her to come (and avoid anger by going solo on a third hunting/camping trip this year) I need to bribe w/ good fishing opportunities since she won't want to wheel whole trip. Booked. I will try and bring my big boy pants this year. Excited for another go.
Thanks man! No worries... self-deprecation is just my love language. I'm really looking forward to it.None o that...Sometimes deciding to turn around is what takes the big boy pants.
BB Skids should help a lot. I am looking forward to having some better protection on the underside this year also. Thanks man! No worries... self-deprecation is just my love language. I'm really looking forward to it.
If it helps, I did many of the trails in the past in a Dodge Durango with about 1.5" of lift and BFG MTs. Many of the Durangos in our group were stock. How much, if any, could a stock Cruiser accomplish? Without damage? Would love to come but have a hard time bringing a new truck there![]()
We have stock 200s every year and even new ones. In year 1 I took my new stock ‘13 with no damage. I only had AT tires and sliders. All about following your lines and good angles. How much, if any, could a stock Cruiser accomplish? Without damage? Would love to come but have a hard time bringing a new truck there![]()
There are lots of trails you can do in stock vehicle. I suggest picking up the Funtreks books and reading through the descriptions. There are trails you can do even with stock factory tires, though most folks will recommend A/T tires for most trails. (If you don't have any mods and don't want any damage avoid the red trails. For the rest you should read up and know that trails change year-over-year, but most likely the worst damage you'd see on other trails would be scraping the bottom of your bumper a bit)How much, if any, could a stock Cruiser accomplish? There are many trails selection is mild & stock friendly. Some good AT tires setup help a lot. I think the scenery surrounding Ouray worth all the risk. How much, if any, could a stock Cruiser accomplish? Without damage? Would love to come but have a hard time bringing a new truck there![]()
