Been wanting to attend this event for some time; Life just has a way of getting in the way for the past few years. Marking this on my calendar and awaiting registration. Planning on Having my Daughter (16) and possibly son (19) attend. Would be making a trek from the panhandle (Panama City Beach, Fl). Should allow for some family time along the way as both kids are slowly starting their own adventures. Just trying to decide on full on Camping or booking a hotel. Hmm. The Mountains have been calling for quit some time.

I'm definitely in. Will probably either grab a AirBnB or camp. Researching options, but very excited to get out with this crew again. Last year was so much fun. Thanks again to all the folks who give so much of their precious time to put on a great event. @indycole, @codyaustin5 please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I just booked a tent site at the 4J, site #9 is what she gave me. Two years ago I tried to find a FS campsite or boondocking location and failed and ended up at an AirBnB. Planning ahead this year.
I just received a call back from the 4J campsite today. Looks like Ill be staying right next to you on site #8. Hope to see you there.

I'm booked at the 4j+1+1 RV Park right in town with a back-in river spot, full hookups etc...

I have stayed there multiple times with both TT and Tent sites and they tend to book fairly early; plus walking distance to main street & hot springs. 3 day cancellation policy IIRC.

While they are technically 'closed' for the winter, they are monitoring the phones/voice mail and will get you sorted if you need to book a spot. FWIW, I'll be renting a TT from Outdoorsy, and will be traveling with my son who'll be 6 by time of trip. (wife & poodle possibly joining - TBD)

EDIT: I've had multiple trips using their tent sites and those sites include fire pits. This fall, however, when I used a TT spot, it did *not* have a fire pit. Camp hosts were ok with us making a pit using large rocks, etc. but I will be bringing my Snowpeak firepit next time and would encourage any other guests to do the same, or at least confirm with 4J team on options prior to your trip.
Just received a call back from the 4J campsite. Was able to reserve Tent site #8. Thanks for posting a link and info on this.

There are lots of trails you can do in stock vehicle. I suggest picking up the Funtreks books and reading through the descriptions. There are trails you can do even with stock factory tires, though most folks will recommend A/T tires for most trails. (If you don't have any mods and don't want any damage avoid the red trails. For the rest you should read up and know that trails change year-over-year, but most likely the worst damage you'd see on other trails would be scraping the bottom of your bumper a bit)

While most people will say the first upgrade you should do is tires, IMO the first upgrade is to buy a good air compressor. Expect to spend at least $100 on a decent one. I say this because airing down your factory tires will likely get you better traction than running full pressure on A/T tires. If you don't have an air compressor (or you have a really cheap on that takes an hour to re-inflate your tires), you will likely not air down sufficiently (or at all) on a trail. Granted others in the group will likely have a compressor, but you'll have to wait for them, which again may discourage you from airing down sufficiently.

For reference, my portable Superflow MV90 costs about $100-120 and will reinflate all 4 tires from 18 to 38psi in under 10 minutes. It's not a 100% duty cycle but it gets the job done for one vehicle.

Funtreks is great as another resource for CO trailsoffroad.com is excellent with detailed trail descriptions and pretty consistent ratings.

Completely agree on compressor, first few trails were with a 12v and took forever to refill. I've been quite happy with my Smittybilt 5.65

I had to bail on 2020 LCDC, but neither pandemic, nor political upheaval, nor career change will keep me from missing 2021 LCDC.

My surly teen sons aren't excited about "spending all day being tossed around in the back seat of the land cruiser", so I'm trying to think of ways to get them onboard. I told them I'd let let them drive on Black Bear Pass, but for some reason that didn't help. Go figure.

We booked a VRBO cabin there in Ouray.

My daughter would kill for that offer, but she just turned 15 and doesn't have her learners permit quite yet.

If they want to drive some Corkscrew/Hurricane Pass/California Gulch is a good stretch. Not very hard, but very scenic in spots.

I ended up booking a VRBO by the river on the outskirts of town. I may end up with an extra room if my buddy can’t make it. Apparently there is also a campground on the river right by it.

Hoosier Daddy, My surly teen son is looking at all the Mountain Biking trails nearby. I'm thinking he will likely come along and just do his own thing with his bike and only see us for money and food.

Confirmed a reservation at 4J for tent site #13, there aren't many non-rv sites at that location so I'd encourage folks to book soon. As near as I could tell 1-15 at the top of the page are tent sites and/or expo trailer sites and all the rest are for RVs and larger trailers. It doesn't look like the greatest campground but for LCDC on the backside of Covid I think the in-town location will be great for walking back from the main street and socializing. @DRCocaCola is in #9 I believe and @kevinfoutch has a RV spot so lets get some others to set up shop here and join the fun. Edit to add @SANDBXS3V3N in site #8 too👍

Hope to be with my wife and 15yr old daughter this year same as last.

@rcork 2 years ago a few of the HIH guys and I did the Telluride mountain biking thing for a half day. I wish I would have spent more time there. Your son is going to wan to be there at least 1 day. The trails are a blast and the lift / Gondola makes fatigue a non factor.

Cancelling my Timber Ridge Lodge reservation. I have other trips going on this spring and fall, and LCDC just won't be able to fit in. I really wish I could make it.

So if anyone is still looking for accommodations, their 2-room "apartment" should open up as soon as the cancellation goes through. It fits up to 6 people (2 queen beds and 1 pull-out couch).

We might want in on that action in an RV spot.

Am I understanding correctly that the plan is all day trips that end up back in town everyday? I’d be coming with a wife and young kids who might not want to come along everyday.

Last year Slee did one overnight trip, but yes everything else has always been a day trip.

A couple updates on our end... we are finalizing some logistical items before we open up registration but we are working hard and excited about this year!

Additionally, please check out some of our new sponsors returning to support us this year... OtterBox and @Cruiser Corps

Once again Elite Land Cruisers and CruiserCorps will be hosting the opening event on Wednesday afternoon which has always been a great way to kick the event off.

Might as well reserve a spot, as mentioned by someone else already just call and leave a message and they will call you back to get you set up. Also, I can confirm they have a very generous three-day prior cancelation policy so no risk if plans change.
