So excited for this year! Sounds like we’ll see a few 100s out there too. That’s cool. At least we’re all pretty laid back Land Cruiser people that have a similar passion for cruisers, wheeling, and a good time!

1st timer here! We are booked at the Ouray Inn as well. I emailed them and asked for confirmation on their cancellation policy, they promptly replied. 48 hours notice for full refund. Obviously I hate to even think that way, but wanted to make sure if something gets sideways with COVID we don't get hung.
Really looking forward to this!

Nothing like basically giving yourself a countdown timer for your repairs and upgrades...

I'm booked at the 4j+1+1 RV Park right in town with a back-in river spot, full hookups etc...

I have stayed there multiple times with both TT and Tent sites and they tend to book fairly early; plus walking distance to main street & hot springs. 3 day cancellation policy IIRC.

While they are technically 'closed' for the winter, they are monitoring the phones/voice mail and will get you sorted if you need to book a spot. FWIW, I'll be renting a TT from Outdoorsy, and will be traveling with my son who'll be 6 by time of trip. (wife & poodle possibly joining - TBD)

EDIT: I've had multiple trips using their tent sites and those sites include fire pits. This fall, however, when I used a TT spot, it did *not* have a fire pit. Camp hosts were ok with us making a pit using large rocks, etc. but I will be bringing my Snowpeak firepit next time and would encourage any other guests to do the same, or at least confirm with 4J team on options prior to your trip.

Reserved a room at Timber Ridge Lodge

Cheapest price was through booking.com, and came with free cancellation up to 3 days before stay (website says free cancellation, but the fine print after reserving says there's a $35 fee for cancelling)

Another 1st timer. Booked same place, my backup option if the wife comes along. If not, will try and secure a tent site somewhere with others.

Does anyone have a rec on campsite w/in reasonable daily hiking distance of a good spot to fly fish (wade preferred, bank okay)? Never been to the area. My wife and I are avid fly fishers, and in order to get her to come (and avoid anger by going solo on a third hunting/camping trip this year) I need to bribe w/ good fishing opportunities since she won't want to wheel whole trip. TYTY
@YieldHunter found this info for you. Fly Fishing. Along Uncompahgre river which passed through Town of Ouray. The reservoir in Ridgway State Park is a popular area. Also a fly shop/guided tour found in Ridgway CO. If you camped in Ridgway State Park, it's just a short hike to the reservoir.

Booked. I will try and bring my big boy pants this year. Excited for another go.

None o that... :) Sometimes deciding to turn around on a trail is what takes the big boy pants.

Glad you’re gonna make it again!

Thanks man! No worries... self-deprecation is just my love language. I'm really looking forward to it.
BB Skids should help a lot. I am looking forward to having some better protection on the underside this year also.

Warden has completed her research. Unfortunately it looks like Cobb County schools system has elected to start 17days earlier this year and we would miss the first week of school. Agh... maybe next year!

y’all have a memorable and safe time (and post a picture or two, pls)!!!!

How much, if any, could a stock Cruiser accomplish? Without damage? Would love to come but have a hard time bringing a new truck there 😬

If it helps, I did many of the trails in the past in a Dodge Durango with about 1.5" of lift and BFG MTs. Many of the Durangos in our group were stock.
A stock LC/LX will do just fine. Tires would be my main concern as the rocks can be very sharp.

We have stock 200s every year and even new ones. In year 1 I took my new stock ‘13 with no damage. I only had AT tires and sliders. All about following your lines and good angles.

There are lots of trails you can do in stock vehicle. I suggest picking up the Funtreks books and reading through the descriptions. There are trails you can do even with stock factory tires, though most folks will recommend A/T tires for most trails. (If you don't have any mods and don't want any damage avoid the red trails. For the rest you should read up and know that trails change year-over-year, but most likely the worst damage you'd see on other trails would be scraping the bottom of your bumper a bit)

While most people will say the first upgrade you should do is tires, IMO the first upgrade is to buy a good air compressor. Expect to spend at least $100 on a decent one. I say this because airing down your factory tires will likely get you better traction than running full pressure on A/T tires. If you don't have an air compressor (or you have a really cheap on that takes an hour to re-inflate your tires), you will likely not air down sufficiently (or at all) on a trail. Granted others in the group will likely have a compressor, but you'll have to wait for them, which again may discourage you from airing down sufficiently.

For reference, my portable Superflow MV90 costs about $100-120 and will reinflate all 4 tires from 18 to 38psi in under 10 minutes. It's not a 100% duty cycle but it gets the job done for one vehicle.

There are many trails selection is mild & stock friendly. Some good AT tires setup help a lot. I think the scenery surrounding Ouray worth all the risk.
