How does one get on a waitlist for the new LC? Is there a website or do I have call my local dealer and ask to get on the list? Any strategies from salespeople familiar with this?

Call the local dealer and ask to speak with either the GM or the New Car Sales Manager. Tell them you want to be on the list if it exists or to start the list if it doesn't.

If there's any dealer group I'd go to, it's Longo. I've never had a bad experience there. The only problem is that they are well known and therefore have huge waiting lists for popular models.
Hopefully they also get allocated more cars because of their volume

Things are going to hell when there's a 5k add for a 4 cyl toyota. MOTO
Good thing though, even subsidized rates are going to skyrocket further the next 6 months, that should help to kick the riff raff off the list and let the real buyers buy. Not that I'd ever buy that thing.

With interest rates where they are I’ll just wait until they arrive at any og the local dealers and buy one. I don’t need it now and will not next year so when find one. Like I will buy it. This will not be like hunting down the new LX as they plan on selling way more of LC’s. I think they are dreaming about Ford and Jeep buyers jumping ship. The point about 4Runner buyers going after it is reasonable, but Sequoia not so much as it’s much bigger. Additionally I’d speculate most people outside of the 4x4 crowd know very little about the LC or its history. The tough call for me will be the LC or GX.

For good measure, you might want to get on a list as it may take a year or more before you can pick one up (esp with consistent supply chain issues with the chips)

I called several dealers on Wednesday morning to "get on the list". Responses varied from:
  • The person was not even aware of the announcement but was faking their way along,
  • They added me to an informal list to get more info later,
  • They added me to a more serious queue, but no deposit. Said it would be an MSRP deal and to just not throw a fit with what's available when it comes up. I was third to call.
  • They would put me in a queue with a deposit but said there would be a mandatory market adjustment. I won't accept market adjustments on principle.
  • They wanted a $2,500 non refundable deposit (this is actually the same person as #1 when they called be back later). They said it would be MSRP + mandatory window tint + undercoating. Sounds like a great way to waste $2,500 with 1000 different ways things could go wrong in the next year while we wait...

Dealer I have my name at $500 bucks refundable. Msrp. So don’t lose faith.

my local dealer committed to sticker price w/ a $1000 refundable deposit on a first edition (or LC trim). My advice would be to find a dealer that doesn't charge a markup and ask them in person if they have a list.

Or just wait until @Eric Sarjeant gets in the 250 business. Reputable MUD vendor who will probably do some cool things with these rigs.

If any of you are interested I have a salesman friend Jerry from Longo Toyota in Southern California

1k deposit no markup and refundable

Jerry is great and I have bought a vehicle from him at Longo. No BS, signed papers in and out. Didn’t even go into the finance office as they do most online.

Just read what you sign .

Let him know Jamie sent you
