I'm first in line with a 1k deposit and no markup at one of my locals. The no markup benefit is because I know the GM of the auto group, otherwise they will be doing a market adjustment.

Im on the list for a 1958.Is it not possible to get the 1958 trim? I see mostly got on the list for lc and fe trims.
I called several dealers on Wednesday morning to "get on the list". Responses varied from:
- The person was not even aware of the announcement but was faking their way along,
- They added me to an informal list to get more info later,
- They added me to a more serious queue, but no deposit. Said it would be an MSRP deal and to just not throw a fit with what's available when it comes up. I was third to call.
- They would put me in a queue with a deposit but said there would be a mandatory market adjustment. I won't accept market adjustments on principle.
- They wanted a $2,500 non refundable deposit (this is actually the same person as #1 when they called be back later). They said it would be MSRP + mandatory window tint + undercoating. Sounds like a great way to waste $2,500 with 1000 different ways things could go wrong in the next year while we wait...
As far as I know, Toyota doesn't offer custom ordering. You tell your dealer rep what spec you want and they'll notify you when they have an allocation that meets or is close to your spec. It's not ideal but I assume it's a profit driven decision for Toyota.I just talked to a few dealers in the area and had basically the same experience...
Our local dealer was the only one who seemed to know anything about Land Cruisers and would put me on a list for a $1K refundable deposit. They also have a 5-7.5K "market adjustment" fee which I am not at all into.
All the other dealers I talked to said it was way to early for any kind of list and that they had no idea what they would be allocated.
One also said that "toyota does not allow for any kind of custom ordering" and that the dealer only gets what Toyota wants to send him... I asked him if that was true, how could I possibly put my name down for a First Edition, or what If I wanted a specific color??
Is that accurate? I've never bought a new toyota. How does the ordering process work? I would expect to be able to specify what trim level, color, and packages I would want...
Wow, interesting.. so for LCs, which I assume most dealers don't sell many of at all, I'm guessing it can be hard to get what you want?
And then my question still stands.. not that I want one, but how would you even get a first edition?

I'm very interested to see what packages and features will be available.. I know I won't be getting a First Edition, but I really wish I could get the round headlights with the creature comforts of the LC trim. They really should have put the round headlights on the higher trim
I wonder if they'll do that from the start or wait til it becomes a problem. I remember the TRD Pro tacoma stuff was available back in 2017-18 when it was first launched and then so many people tried to buy Pro grilles that they locked everything up behind a VIN lookup. Maybe the 250 won't have that problem if it's not bought by the T4R/Taco tuner crowd.E
Good chance that when the parts system is updated with the new parts, one can get the LC trim parts and convert the higher trim to the lower trim.
Unless, of course, Toyota put those conversion parts on manual allocation (MAC) with VIN documentation (which they do often to deter this kind of activity and not dilute different trim levels).
