The 600 looks dated and bloated. 550 (GX) is their best design to date on the Lexus side of the house since 1997 IMO.
I think the LC coupe has good styling, but the rest? Not so much until the GX 550.

Of course, when the RX was released with the spindle grille, I confidently predicted that it would be the downfall of Lexus. My reasoning was 1) the grille was hideous, 2) the RX is the best selling vehicle for Lexus, and 3) RX buyers are conservative. So I predicted sales would tank and it would be very bad news for Lexus. In actuality, RX sales increased after the introduction of the spindle grille on the RX, so that shows just how little I know about automobile marketing and styling.

It still looks enormous and hideous to me.

Nothing a little modification can't fix:

I haven't seen any LX600 aftermarket bumpers that I like, including that one, which is just a damage enhancer that also blocks the front camera and radar sensor. Having to spend several thousand $ to fix the styling of a $100k+ vehicle is not something I think should be required. YMMV.

There's not a lot of options yet for the LX6, but the ARB 300 bumper can be made to fit and Dissent is working on their production bumpers actively. The one pictured is not appropriate for street trucks due the impacts you mentioned, but it was fine for their Baja1000 truck.

In all fairness the LC200 looks frumpy in stock form and still requires some love to improve its appearance. Surprisingly to me the LX6 actually looks smaller than my 200 when parked side by side.

I’ve seen the LX600 bumper from Dissent. I don’t like it.

I'm buying a new car this year and as the original owner of an 88 FJ62, I'd love it to be another LC. At $85K, that's not gonna happen.

The starting price of the 1958 landcruiser is around 55k. Your pricing is for the Lexus version.

If that's true, I can't wairt to see one in person.

I shouldn't be surprised at this..but...

The salesperson at the no-markup dealer near me that I was assigned randomly the day after the LC press release when I called in, despite my frequent and recurring contact in the interceding months, failed to fulfill his statement made on 9/27/23: "You definitely are still number one on my list to notify when we are taking deposits for the new Land Cruiser. We are still a ways out, but I will give you a call as soon as I have any news!"

I made an appointment to see him about a month ago on another matter and he casually indicated the list of depositors for the LC was 50 deep. I then asked him when we was going to call to take my deposit and he said he forgot, but that he'd insert me appropriately into the list. I asked him to follow up with me as to what spot I would be in the list and to call to take the deposit then.

Then he ghosted me. I called into the General Sales Manager after about a week of trying to contact the salesperson to figure out what was going on, and he indicated that since the original salesperson was out, he'd get the update from him when he was back and talk to the management team on how to handle this, but that he'd take the deposit now and I'd slot in the list in the high 50s.

I paid the refundable deposit hoping for a favorable outcome. Well, officially, they've decided not do anything about it.

I'm sure many of you have decent contacts at the dealers and have your names "on the list". Get it all in writing if you're at all serious about it. I suppose I was naive to give them the benefit of the doubt that they would handle any part of this in a professional way. At least the email I got back from the General Sales Manager had their official signature. There's one good thing.

A reasonable deposit should suffice to ensure you're not only on the list, but serious in the dealer's eyes, with a receipt backing you up. I know my local dealer's 'reservation list' was around 130, but the sales guy admitted to me that had only translated to 43 deposits. The dealer also stated that the volume of GX's they've sold over the past 3 yrs impacts the annual allocation numbers expected, for what it's worth.

Take into account the preference for specific model, specific color, and specific options......if you get one in the first allocation or two, you'll be extremely lucky, but if you have a volume heavy dealer, you shouldn't be waiting around for too long.

I wouldn't trust a no deposit reservation list whatsoever.
