Hi everyone! Thanks to you all, I purchased my ‘08 GX470 on 1/31/2019. Overall, it was a decent find for me (wanted ‘09, non-nav, lower miles, better condition) but that would have me waiting for a while.

Plans are simply mild for now. So far, all that I have done is replace OEM wheel/tires with FJ Cruiser steelies with 275/70/17 ST MAXX.

Here are some pics!

Looks good. Having a silver gx I'm interested in the build. I've been looking for basic black wheels and may have to "borrow" that look.

Looks great! How is the fit at stock with the 275s? I am in need of new tires and was planning on waiting until I could lift it, but may just go with tires first if I can squeeze them.

Thanks. Slight rubbing on front wheel liner. Can be fixed by the fender liner mod.

However I have 15mm offset 7.5” wheels vs 25mm stock.

Updated to the Trail Rims

Front components were not exactly plug and play. The 6x9 woofer bolted right in and used the speaker extension plug.

The tweeter had a little modification. Basically re-use factory tweeter bracket, cut the tweeter harness about 1 in from tweet which left us with 4 inches or so of yellow/black wires to 4 pin connector. I then soldered both yellow wires to positive and black wires to negative terminals of Focal speaker.

Then I simply tacked hot glue to the bracket and tweeter. Sits perfectly in the housing.

Alright fellow enthusiasts, I'd like to get a pulse check on upcoming lift install. I have acquired the following so far:
  1. ToyTec BOSS 2.5 Lift (HD springs, Front Diff Drop, MetalTech Rear Conversion)
  2. SPC UCA
  3. SPC 25435 Camber Kit
  4. OEM LCA (both ball joint boots were leaking so decided to replace
  5. CVJ Axles 9808TR
  6. Axle Nuts (not acquired-cannot determine whether to get Toyota or Lexus as parts diagram show different)

Anything else that I should be considering? I do wonder about the diff dust covers/seals on the front diff housing...I'd really hate to have to do the effort of removing CV axles twice...

Any input to help get my ducks in a row for a weekend install is greatly appreciated.

Yeah do the seals while you're in there, both diff side and hub side. Did the CVJ axles not come with nuts? Either way you could probably reuse the stock ones.

The only other thing would be the bearing assemblies. If you suspect yours are worn or will need replacing soon, it's easiest to do them while you have the axles out, but not too much extra work if you decide to wait either.

I will be inspecting bearing wobble later on this week. Hopefully they are still good. I will be picking up seals, nuts tomorrow.

Unbelievable...Toytec BOSS 2.5 Kit with Rear Boss Remote Reservoirs...

Anyone on here purchased this kit and found a way to properly mount the rear reservoirs along the frame? the reservoir lines seem to be too long for the driver's side as it hits the rear fender liner along the frame. Furthermore, the black mounting bracket has a single hole with supplied bolts but I cannot find a factory location to mount the bracket along the frame. This has been a PITA....

I thought about inserting a nutsert but I don't have much room to use the nutsert tool. I guess I can use long zip ties.

Lastly, for the diff drop kit, how in the hell is that supposed to work when there's three mounting points on the frame for the front diff? Two in the front by the x-member and one behind it...

Thanks for the help.

Kevin

Look for a YouTube videos on gx470 Diff Drop. The Diff drop spacers are for the diff drop brackets.

i found a couple of videos on an FJCruuser and it works exactly the same on the GX470

Thanks HomersCanyonero...I did see that link after venting in my post above but appreciate the help.

All I have left to do is:

1) front sway bay relocation brackets (test fitted and the lower joint of the link is barely touching the bracket attached to knuckle holding wheel sensor). Maybe I will try to loosen bracket and slide it forward to see if it will clear.

2) Diff drop

3) figure out best location to secure the rear remote resis. Only way I can see this working is to remove the air suspension components in drivers side to expose the mounting hole like passengers side and get the correct bolt not supplied in the kit.

On the other hand, the suspension does look nice.

I mounted my rear resi's behind the body on top of the frame rails at the back of the wheel well. Worked well.
