Well, I saw an FJC on ebay that I might buy...

Situation:

I own a 100 with a note on it.
I own the Cado with no note on it.

I can sell both, get the FJC completely built (35s, 6", exo'ed) and have less of a payment than I have on just the 100. I would be down to one vehicle and would most likely pay it off quickly and get a car as well (to save gas).

Oh what to do...as you all know I like to own a different cruiser every year :)

My dilemma:

Considering I wheel and hang out (and have done more mods) on FJCs in the last year than any other rig, it is no real surprise.

Listen to your sister...you won't like it as much as the 80. It's not big enough to sleep in and the boys can't see out of the back windows. It's also a PITA to get kids in and out of the back seat. Plus with the way you wheel, you will want to do a SAS and that will cost you bank.

Keep the cado. Wait until FJ Cruisers have been out for a while and try to pick one up cheap.

is SAS solid axle conversion? and has anyone done this on an fjc?

all pro is working on a kit. It has been done before.

Hey dan, grab that 2,700 80 from Asheville and buggy it...

That is part of the reason this truck looks good to me. I can get it, lose the other trucks, and then build out a buggy. I can't have more than 2 in the stable at one time (financially) and this would solve that problem from a wheeling perspective. I could tow the buggy with that FJC and still do lighter wheeling with it.

I saw that one too... about as built as an FJC can be without the SAS.

A "Cado-less" Dan. Gonna have to think about that. I think the earth just tilted a bit off it's axis.

I've only had the Cado for a year :)

I would probably SAS that truck at some point if I got it. I would be able to afford to by not having to maintain two land cruisers.

That FJC looks like it could handle almost anything Tellico or any other trail around here could throw at it. Plus it's hard to argue with no car payment sooner... Got any idea how to get in to the back without taking the tire carrier off? That could be a pain.

The real question is, will it become the FJCado? Perhaps you could paint the bumpers and exo with toxic waste barrel liner so the Cado legacy could live on...:grinpimp:

The rear bumper folds down to get access to the rear door. there are hinges, locking mechanism, etc.

Sorry, I only saw hinges on the exo and the bumper in the ebay pics. Only latches I saw were for the Jerry cans. But I've been wrong before, and i'll probably be wrong again, so that's probably the case here... My bad, yo!

They are pinned on the sides...wanna buy the Avocado? :)

It would be cool, but I don't feel like I could do the Avocaod justice, the truck is beyond my driving skills and would get bored with me.:o

Want my opinion :D You are crazy trying to go that way. Also towing the buggy with the FJ, probably not going to happen that easily. Takes a lot to build a buggy light enough and also an aluminum trailer.

What are you going to do with the FJ that you can not do with either the 100 or 80?

If it is a money thing, sell the 100 and buy a cheap 80 for a comuter.

eeep, you aren't supposed to see this Christo :)

That's an interesting thread...I'm speechless:rolleyes:

This isn't a money thing (entirely). I have the 80 paid off so no big deal there, but I do have a small loan on the 100 (again, not a big deal). I am somewhat interested in capability, and I think this rig could go most places I want to do with the 80 (I am not interested in really hard core stuff, that is why I want a buggy, I am tired of beating up the 80 even).

The pros:
- New, just built, no baggage truck (the 80 is aging)
- Warranty (I have seen this work wonders with breakage)
- I like FJ Cruisers
- I like the cage, setup, etc
- I fit in the FJ Cruiser better than an 80

The Cons:
- It has suicide doors with a poor rear seat view (I have two kids in seats)
- It is not a solid front axle, so wheel stands are going to be common (not like they aren't in the 80 with the current front suspension)
- ???

Aside from that it is more about sentimental attachment to the Cado. I love that truck, but it is just a truck. I have had 6 or 7 cruisers in as many years...so that part doesn't bother me too much. I am going to be in for a PM headgasket this fall, possibly 5.29s in the diffs, and possibly a 3-link or long arm kit for the front to get the 80 to where it is perfect.

I could buy this FJC, sell both my current cruisers, and still have enough to most likely get a nice car to drive for mileage (or pay for an SAS).

I dunno...maybe I won't need a car, with as little as I drive (work from home) I might be able to get away with just the FJC!
