Should be on the firewall plate, if they will read it back to you.
The frame serial number should tell you BJ45, HJ45, HJ47.
Looks South American; not sure which models they imported.
1980 was a changeover year in August, so maybe a "B", "H", or "2H."
And assuming the engine has never been replaced over the years, could be lots of choices if not 100% original.
Bandeirantes used some Mercedes engines during their run, so would be available down South.

That's probably a BJ45 with the 3B 4 cylinder diesel.

Be very careful buying from Central America. They are masters of backyard repairs and bodywork.

H motor in Aus.

is that the exhaust pipe by the fender, would that be an H? 2H?

other note, did Toyota ever make a BJ45 lpb from the factory? seems all the one's I've seen for sale have been 6 cylinder.

usually see the 70 turn signals mounted on the aprons.

.

Not positive, but I have seen several BJ45 for sale on European web sites. I assumed they were stock.

When did the H motor start being used in land cruisers? Before 1980?

OP, is it a 4 cylinder (B family) or a six cylinder (H family)

I'm guessing that the turn signals belong up on the aprons???

They do belong on the aprons...of a 70 series.

If it's a 1980 45, it had an H from the factory.

If it's a 47, then it could have the 2H.

X2 on the 70 series lights.

And if it is a really cool HJ45 like Dan's then it will have a 1HZ and a 5 speed:grinpimp:

Nothing can be as cool as a 45 that hasn't moved in 3 or 4 years. Nothing!

(but that's OK, parts are being made shiny and cool again...)

That is a Central American Truck. I would be careful with that one. They will hamfist some junk together down there and when you get it home it is a mountain of bondo or it is stolen with forged documents.
