King shocks on a 100 series?? Opinions? (1 Viewer)

Haven't made the jump, yet. I'm still evaluating options and trying to really scrutinize my actual use case for the truck, but I've basically narrowed my search down to the following three shock choices, in no particular order:

1. King OEM Replacement remote reservoir, no compression adjustment
2. Ironman Foamcell Pros
3. Tough Dog 41mm Foamcell fronts and 41mm adjustables in the back
4. Tried and true, cheap OEM shocks

Any input from King users would be greatly appreciated. Especially if they've tried any of the other setups for comparison.

Why 41mm ToughDogs? Are you going to remain largely "stock"? I'm a little heavier than normal and run the 53mm Ralph Fronts/45mm Adjustable Rear Tough Dogs. Absolutely LOVE them. Over 65k on them to date and they have been exceptionally good. Couple buddies of mine run the same setup and love it as well. Few other people I know run the IronMan Foamcell Pros and I will admit those are very, very nice as well.

I am in the same boat.. Last cruiser I had OME and was too stiff for me. I dont off road the rig as much so trying to figure out what is the best bang for the buck

If I'm making a decision primarily based on "best bang for the buck," I'd have a hard time passing over the OEM shocks. With rear spacers and cranked torsion bars, I can get to 20.5" fender to hub in the front and 21" in the rear. Main reason I'm looking at more expensive options is that I do like/prefer something that's been engineered for a specific purpose (i.e. - extended travel shocks designed to accommodate 2+" of lift).

@geanes The reason I was thinking 41s was because I do plan on sticking with a stock-ish weight vehicle, and I fear that the other options might be over-damped. When you say you're a little over stock weight, are we talking 100-200 lbs? With the stuff on my truck now and what I plan to add in the future, I think I might be adding about 200-250lbs at most. Right now, I'm probably pretty close to stock since I added sliders, but took off the roof rack and took out the 3rd row seats.

The stock AHC was always a solid ride. It just would've been the second time I did more maintenance and replacements of parts for it so I did the lift. Over 150k miles so I think it was time.

Great looking LX. I also have a white LX also and love the Method wheels that I run on my Tacoma.

When I replace tires, I'll go with some bronze 305s or 315s.

What type of suspension are you running? I like the lift.

what model shocks are you guys talking about when you say OEM kings? There's like, 1200 variations.

No love for Radflos? I'm rocking them.

They are A+ piece of kit. Customer service and servicing is light years better than what you'd get with King. King's main place where they devote their time and service to is race applications and not OEM replacements.

41mm is probably best for what you're describing. Zero need to go BIG. The adjustable shocks are a very, very nice thing to have. Turn them up for daily driving and turn them down for off-road. Makes for a very adaptable ride. I was being a little silly when I said I was a "little" over stock weight. When fully rigged for overlanding, I'm approaching 1000lbs over stock.....that's why I have the bigger shocks, extra heavy coils and air bags.

I know someone in Socal who has a 100 series with them.. He loves it. How much do those run price wise?

$400 each. $800 for a set. $1600 front and rear for the Radflos.

Thanks! I'm running OLD MAN EMU Med Springs, swapped out the torsion bars, SLEE Diff Drop Kit, SPC UCA's and King Shocks front and rear. Love the ride! It's a 2.5 inch lift with 33×12.5×17 BFG KO2's. No rubbing at all with these and didn't have to do any trimming.

Bump. About to do an AHC Delete on 05 LX470. AHC is tired and I want to keep the car going. WHat are people liking for mostly road (Boston s*** roads) and some light offroad (beaches, fire roads)? Looking at Iron Man gas shock kit. Also if someone knows a great suspension/LC shop near eastern mass please let me know.

I changed from OME to stock shocks and love them. Kings would be the only place id go from here.

Tough Dogs Foam shocks, @TRAIL TAILOR

I've been happy with the Dobinsons IMS (internal floating piston) shocks. I think the boots and lower mounting covering were designed to protect from rock chips.

I have the stage 1 icons. One of my front shocks is already blown after 10-15k miles, and I dont feel I have wheeled it extremely hard. I'm going to have it rebuilt under warranty. If it blows again I may switch brands, depending on their customer service through the warranty process. I'm not sure I want to pay $2k for the stage II setup. Radflo would definitely get a strong consideration.

I'm also wanting to do an AHC delete, and i'm in the same decision boat on a mid-range priced shock. I know the kings are top dog, but very spendy.

1. OME- out because I've heard too many say they are harsh
2. Bilstein - my go-to for other vehicles, but doesn't seem to have a good offering for the 100
3. Iron man- I've heard that they dont last very long? I think one version is better than another
4. OEM - won't do much good for a slightly lifted vechile.
5. Dobinsons - havent seen too many reviews, glad to see some good feedback about them on this thread
