Well...if thats the case then why not just disconnect the accelerometer that is that yellow thing under the shifter console? Not that I advocate doing so but its the same affect and it also means you disable the driver's side as well. Which, :meh:

Because I want the airbag.

I remember laying in the back seat of a super cab pick up and never being in a seat belt my entire childhood. Miracle I survived . The fear and propaganda behind "kids" seats is over the top. Silly that you are going to sell your truck because you won't move the tire back outside so you can use the back seats again.

My 4 year old uses this. Put the smaller child in the middle using the 5 point harness and the two bigger kids on either sides with booster seats and lap/shoulder belts.

X2 We used that same seat for both daughters and they both stayed in the 5 pt harness until after they were 6 with no complaints.

Or you could just go ahead and get it over with and buy the minivan.

And our parents lets us run around town all day solo during the yearly town festival, and gave us Coors at 5 and whiskey to get us to sleep. Lots of things that seemed like a good idea no longer are, I guess. Then again they were not doing 75 mph on a daily basis on packed 5 lane each way highways as a general practice. My safety shortcuts pretty much ended when my oldest two were young and a car ahead of us crashed and lost a wheel while the flow of traffic was at about 70mph and I had to do the worst panic stop ever to avoid a massive pileup.

Yeah, not selling the truck, that was a joke. Can't use a tire carrier out back as a practicality because probably 2-3 days a week I tow a trailer that will not allow a swing out to open, and I am constantly in and out of the hatch for work stuff.

Fro the last 4 years, the little one has been in the middle and the older two have flanked her. That will remain the setup for the foreseeable future. My wife has been bugging me that our youngest should get out of the 5 point and into a booster - I'm not yet convinced that it is necessary or time to. I was trying to see if there was perhaps a seat that would work or another no-brainer solution that I had not yet heard of.

Looks like status quo for now.

Running 35s or bigger I assume?
I have 4 kids and my two oldest ride in the 3rd row when we have the whole family aboard. No way to get your spare underneath either?

Nope, running 33s with a 4x4 labs bumper. No room underneath.

Mount that sucker (the spare tire, not the kid!) on the front bumper! It'd be super easy to do. And it would look awesome! I've thought about doing it. I think it be bad a$$!!

Ha ha ha! :hmm: Lets see yours first, then I'll consider it.

Seriously. What kind of front bumper are you running? I have a flimsy aluminum TJM front bumper. If I had a steel ARB or something I would fab a spare tire carrier (disc with 3-4 stud like the spare tire carriers on JDM Cruisers) and mount it on the front bumper. I'd do it tomorrow. I've been thinking about this for years. Don't have a steel front bumper and don't have the need to do it.

I just let my 8 year old have a booster, the 6 year old still uses his car seat. They are both on the small side but even so I'd say you have at least a couple more years before it's a problem.

Your issue is why I just went to a 100. That middle seat in the middle row became a HUGE issue when kid 3 came along. My wife is 5' 3" and was already having a hard time with just to two kids trying to get our 2 year old into his car seat (outer seat). I'm running about 4" of lift on 315's. Once baby 3 came into the picture she had to go behind the passenger seat since she was facing backwards and could not go behind the driver seat. I'm 6'2". That left the middle and driver side seat left. My 5 year old is now in a booster which meant he could not sit in the middle row without the shoulder strap. That put the 2 year old in the middle seat. It was a nightmare for my wife to try to lift our 2 year old into that middle seat. She had to climb in from the front and climb into the back seat to strap him in. After a couple weeks of that my wife pulled me aside and gave me the "talk". Although the vehihcle is my trail rig, it's her daily drive which means she drives it 90% of the time. the new LX470 is currently in the garage and my buitiful LX450 will be in the mud classified within the next few days. Life SUCKS!!!

This would be my nightmare. I feel for you.

Yup, upgrading the seat to a higher capacity is the way to go. I think. Will probably be along the lines of the graco, those Dionos are sweet but pricey.

I'm the oldest of ten kids, you guys don't know problems. All we had was a gold 69 Chevy Impala.

Some of us had to stand on the back seats:flipoff2:

I get you. I was youngest of 5. We had an Aries K wagon, and my brother and I had the cargo area assigned to us, no seats at all.
