I feel like I've seen threads about this in the past, but I'm having trouble chasing them down. Basically, when the key is out of the truck, and the door is open the truck does the beep beep beep of the key in ignition alarm. When i close the door, can't lock the truck. The problem used to be intermittent, then more constant, now it's all the time.
I read somewhere that over time the contacts around the ignition switch wore down which could lead to this issue, so I replaced the ignition switch yesterday, the little white plastic thing at the end of the shaft. It SEEMED like that fixed the issue. Got in the car this morning - same issue.
When i put the key slightly into the tumbler, I hear a relay click on and off, and the funny thing is that sometimes in the cold or rain I hear that relay sort of freaking out when the car is off, click click click click. And I also wonder if it might be a bad ignition relay. I'm in Oregon, and it hasnt rained here since May, so I don't think there's liquid anywhere.
