Does anyone knows what is the Blank Key part number for Toyota OEM ignition key on 40-series?
My local dealership doesn't have any in stock and they need to special order it, meaning I can't return them if it's not the style I'm looking for.

I'm interested in the metal key with small plastic head, similar to this one:

Are there any types of logo available, "TOYOTA" word (as the one pictured), Toyota "T" logo, "TEQ" word,...

@AlexJet :

I don't know if this key blank looks like your picture, but the ignition key for the US model (assume Canada is the same) is 90999-00054, which has been superseded by 90999-00085, US$9.33 dealer list price.

I'm in need of keys, too. Not sure what I'm going to do, as I have no key from the PO and the gas lock has no code. Probably going to have to pay the locksmith to go old-school and build a key from the scratch. FWIW, not sure the newer plastic head keys will fit into the older lock cylinders, even if the actual key portion is the right shape. Those old, flat, metal key heads sort of fit into a similar female shape on the lock cylinder. The plastic head might not fit. Or, I'm wrong. Probably more likely.

I bought the SOR blank and the Ace Hardware nor Home Depot would cut it, so I have a paper weight on my tool bench. I found a 60 year old locksmith shop who had the blanks in stock and cut me two keys for around $12. He's in Walnut Creek, CA. If you can't find another solution, mail them to me and I will take them to get cut and then mail back.

- I CAN Also Cut Your Key's to Your Factory TOYOTA Key CODE Using my Shops Dealership - Type SST Computerized key Cutting machine

- Your Factory Key Code Is stamped on your passenger side lock cylinder like this example

Not on a '74. No external passenger lock. The only locks are the rear hatch and the DS door (both single-sided key) and the ignition and fuel door (double-sided key). Sadly, no code on the fuel door lock cylinder. Even sadder, if you don't have a key to get the ignition lock cylinder out of the steering column, you are SOL.

The Original 1974 Keys them self's ,( ones sold with any new Toyota Vehical , Both single sided & Double sided Ignition , doors , rear hatch etc. had the key codes stamped physically on them

do U have any original keys ?

I have had to drill out a ignition Column Cylinder before , No fun :(

I have a hatch key that works, no door key, and no ignition/fuel key. There are codes stamped on the outsides of the single-sided locks.

I also have a complete set of Dealership SST master keys for Double sided 1973-1991 FJ40 , FJ55 , FJ60/62 / or commonly refereed to TR-33 lock smith's " Test Keys "

These are a full set of ALL Factory Toyota Key Codes ,

One of the 250 pc. set would correctly engage & open your ignition cylinder on your column like U mentioned ,

I could then send U a working set of keys back in the mail i cut to the matching corresponding key code

all U need to do is remove the main Magnesium Ignition lock cylinder housing from the main steering column witch is held in by 1 snap ring , and fairly simple to do

PM me for more details

I'm planning to get the ignition key this weekend.
Does anyone has an instructions on how to remove the ignition lock out? Do I also need to pull the actual lock cylinder out of the ignition lock? What is the procedure of doing It? Don't want to break anything, so any help/advice is much appreciated.

I took the Ignition Lock out from the column, but how do I remove the cylinder from it?
I'm having trouble to find out way of finding the right way to take it apart.
Does anyone knows how to take it apart???
