Well, I got lucky. The parts truck had an antenna (with a broken mast, of course.)

Too bad I put the dash back in before I discovered this. 🤦‍♂️

Ok, back to the drawing board.

Can the toothed cord/mast (which I have on hand) be retrofitted into a 1994 antenna?

No, the early antenna cords are crimped onto the motor. You can try to make your own connector; I gave it 28 seconds of serious thought, then didn't.

Best to just ditch it and get a later model antenna. New ones are still available.

That’d be 1996 for the changeover, correct?

1995, but some early Jan 1995 models may still have the early style. Anything between Feb 1995 and Dec 1997 will have the same antenna.

Well, I ordered a replacement power antenna assembly, but since I can't stand waiting (and don't pivot well anymore), I went after fixing this one.

The nylon cord was easily removed from the serrated clamping area with a heat gun - I expected it to soften the nylon, but it actually released the spring steel under it that acts as the clamping force against the serrations. Whether or not I have damaged that spring strip remains to be seen, but I'm optimistic - I will reheat it and try to install the newer generation toothed cable here in a few.

Ok, that was worth the effort (and not)

Cord went in fine, spooled as expected, but the antenna mast is too large in diameter to replace what was there before.

So, fail.

Bummer because that antenna motor is silent and smooth.

All in all, an excusable waste of time. :)

Also, earlier in the week I printed some spacer rings/mounts to move the Pioneer speakers off of the window tracks on the front doors. Hopefully everything clears the door card speaker grilles (prefer to run factory grilles).

Ok, guys, I'm getting close to reassembling this thing. Can someone verify these are the correct part numbers for the fender flare welting in black (all 6)?

58351-60090 Front (x2)
61784-60090 Rear (x1)
61794-60020 Rear (x1)
61783-60071 Rear door section (x2)
Confirmation would be appreciated. I hate to reinstall the passenger fender after the antenna installation and take it off again later, so I'd like to order the welting now.

Also, I'm VERY close to having the LX450 console conversion sorted - but I'm missing the metal bracket that reinforces/mounts the cupholder (inside/under the plastic console tower) - if any of you have a roached/unsellable console and would sell me that part, I'd REALLY appreciate it. :)

and, back on this thing again. You guys that have done replacement carpet; what's the solution for re-stapling the plastic wire covers at the door thresholds?

am I looking at something like this?

I haven't done it with this, but I have reupholstered motorcycle seats (fabric cover, foam, plastic backing) and an electric stapler make short work.

With MC seats, you are blind stapling into the seat pan, correct? Whereas in this situation, you are somewhat down in a trough and need to close the staple on the carpet side. I don't see how to do it cleanly without a stapler with a raised anvil?

Guess I'm ordering this guy (although it will install the staples from the opposite direction)

Nice. I didn't know that existed. Not cheap at $130. MPL4-M Industrial Raised Anvil Stapling Plier

I used Gorilla Glue to attach the carpet to the wiring covers and it appears to be holding up.

yeah, it's expensive. pretty much a $200 investment with staples & shipping.

Gorilla glue in that area is a good idea, also. I'll probably do both. I've already glued the center tunnel area; doing the doorsill and having the carpet held by the seat mounts is probably all that is needed, I imagine.
