I did a 150 mile round trip on Saturday during a snow storm. The highways had a good covering and this was before the plows came out, truck drove fantastic.

We have 2ft coming down tomorrow night but unfortunately I'll be out of town.

a follow up, I wouldn't recommend doing a gear install along with the Kasiers as I did. Any gear install will produce some particulates during break in which in my case caused some very harsh banging in the lockers. These work by binding and releasing a roller and those particulates caused issues for sure.

I drove down to Florida a month ago and the binding and banger was very violent at times. I think the thicker moly oil was part of the problem as far as allowing the particulates to settle out of it.

I've since drained and refilled with royal purple. The magnets were covered with those particulates and since then the lockers have not been an issue.

Did my first good wheeling trip and the truck did very well. I could still detect some bind in low range so I'm planning the pin 7 mod and dash switch for the next run.

What viscosity Royal Purple did you use?

Could you describe the particles, were these bits of metal you could feel or more like the usual fine magnetic dust particles ("beard") on the magnet? All from the new ring and pinion breaking in? How many miles on the locker now?

It doesn't surprise me that Kaiser autolockers would pop and bang because all other autolockers do. It doesn't matter whether they use rollers or teeth to lock. They all get into occasional situations when they need to switch drive sides when the other side is ratcheting by one step and when they finish ratcheting: bang. It is just the way they work.

My rear elocker is pissing me off so much that I'm seriously thinking about getting a non locker rear and dumping in an auto locker and forgetting about it!

Have you considered a cable operator for your OEM E-locker?

I am putting a vortec 5.3L/4L65E/split case in my wife's 80. Rather that mess with the electrical hassle I am opting to go with a pair of manual lockers. Takes all the wonder out of E-lockers for me

That is pretty cool but $400!

I hear you, in the same boat... But , it would be a selectable locker for $400.

...and you need the elocker for this application.

just the usual stuff from breaking in the gears. Kind of a fine grit. The lockers now have over 5500 miles on them. I did a run on Saturday which included a 5 hour round trip and no noise.

The lockers initially were quiet and then the noise came in slowly until it peaked at around 3000 miles. then started to subside and now after a drain and refill they have been completely quiet.

I'm sure it was just the gear break in but if something changes I'll definitely post up.

Looking forward to future updates.

OK another update.

The front DS birf started hatin the Kaiser. It was binding and banging. The truck has 290k on it and while I'm the second owner I think the Birfs are the original ones.

So with the birfs making noise and the torque steer from the locker I part timed the truck. Too early to tell definitively but the initial ride was very favorable.

Now this automatically disables ABS due to the birfs not turning but with the Kaisers ABS never engaged anyway, even on packed snow.

I went with a Lokka spool, Nitro chomoly birfs and Aisin hubs. If it proves out I'll do a full ABS delete.

Did the ABS delete about a month after the PT kit was installed and never looked back.

Just seen this thread and rather than start another thought I would throw this in, there is a ARB similar locker coming out in OZ, by a company called IIRC 'Uneek'?

No links yet but supposed to be the 'bees knees'?

Found link.

another update: Went out this weekend for our Fall Gathering and the truck performed great!! With the truck in 4WD there was still a slight hint of what I referred to as torque steer but not bad at all as we were on dirt. The really nice thing was the lack of drive line bind and side slipping compared to when I drove my truck with e-lockers.

They worked seamlessly!

My friend drove the truck all day Saturday and he loved how they worked. He also has a e-locked 80.
