just curious about the "value" of a 40 vs a 55 . . .

say, same year, same "condition", both with 2f's and 4spd... lots of 40's for sale, and just the odd iron pig here and there. don't think we can generalize too much, but do the pigs fetch a tad more on the cruiser market, or are they considered not too too desirable, even if rare (and no offence the 55 fans :D )... just curious... they're essentially the same vehicle (say a 78 40 and a 78 55), longer wheel base wagon, yes? and i'm gonna guess parts are just a tad harder to get...

cheers.

When doing resto for resale, the 55 is truly a pig. Those that haven't rusted, are going to. With no real aftermarket steel parts available, even a perfect one is already on the way to a rusty death. I like pigs, just wouldn't put money into one.

You're probably better with the '40 ( can hear the cracking of rust on your trucks in Southern Ontario all the way over here). I doubt you'll be able to find a '55 that isn't a pile of iron oxide anywhere in Ontariio.

The '55 will turn heads faster than the '40 though due to their rarity.

yeah, nice comments, thanks fellas. guessin for wheelin, a 40 would be that much easier to manouever around. not much body options for a pig i guess vs gozzard/aqualu tubs for 40's, etc... thought i saw a clean one for 5G's, but i'm gonna guess it came from the US/south/midwest, some parts replaced with fiberglass i think, that just got me curious. it looked really clean in the pics and seemed like a cruiser head took good care of it.....

nope, love my 40 for sure! just somethin about those pigs, i love the wagon and the functionality of it, and they look bad a55 when modified (or really fugly in the eyes of most, lol), just somethin about them....
