I have a 77 FJ40 that is getting new tires soon. The problem is I have two sets of rims. I have a set of Outlaw 2 rims that the PO had put on and I have a set of FJ60 rims coming in July. I don't mind having to sand blast and paint my FJ60 rims. My problem is that next summer I am painting my cruiser so I'm trying to find a color and rim set I like now so I don't have to swap rims out down the road. Colors I like are Nordic Blue, Mustard, and Dune Beige. Pictures, .02, and ideas welcomed.

I vote Stock. I have some American Racing White wagon wheels that do look ok but I just bought fj60 wheels to blast and paint. Factory look is really tight.
My truck is mustard...

OEMs all the way, no question. I believe the FJ60 rims were offered on late model 40s ('82+ maybe?). With the exception of old school OEM gray rims, those are tops in my book.

It will look nice with any of the colors you're considering, especially nordic blue.

I'll post pics of my dune beige with white spokes later.

Good luck.

I don't believe Nordic Blue is a correct color for a 77, but Mustard is. I vote for Mustard.

Bezel and FJ60 Rims

I am feeling the mustard for sure. Thats what I have been towards the most lately. What would be period correct color for the bezel white or black?

Also should I go white FJ60 rims or grey rims?

i would go for Stock wheels will go with any color you have in mind but i vote for dune

i vote beige or mustard for paint. and white bezel for either

what size tires will you be running? if you have a lift and large tires i vote the outlaws staying semi stock i vote fj60's. i guess the wheels i just gave away were fj60's cuz they looked identicle to those

I plan on running some 33" with a 2.5" OME lift. Some of the last FJ40 made had rims that are the same as FJ60 rims.

Desert Tan is nice, you may also be interested in Coronado Tan, an older FJ40 color. By older I mean early 60s.

Outlaw rims, fine for what they are. Quite generic. I'd paint the Fj60 rims a shade of white and go with that for the long haul for a color, black for a tan or the like.

Beige with beige or black wheels is what I would pick, but that's just my taste. By the way, who's FJ is that beige one? I noticed a Maine plate on the back.

Dune beige and white fj60 rims would be great looking and retain somewhat of a stock look. The white rims would go with the white bezel and the white part of your hardtop. White and dune beige have always been my favorite fj40 colors. I don't go for bright colors on any vehicle. I am more partial to the basic nature colors. I go aginst most in that I really do not like blue and mustard.

Beige with white or grey 60 rims and white bezel. Mustard would be my second choice with the same rims and bezel

Do you mean paint the FJ60 rims grey? Pics would be great if you have them.

I am unsure of whose FJ that is. Over the years I have saved numerous pictures of cruisers that I have liked. I want to say it is off the Cool Cruiser site somewhere. I have never seen it here on MUD.

I vote stock all the way. I just had mine powdercoated black, but need to refinish my old school caps before I do the switch.
