I have no idea Lash, I actually have to cut my fendors first then reattach my flares, and Im guessing the rivets for that will need to be a little shorter length than the ones needing to go through the diamond plate. Iwould have saved one but my drill ate them up trying to get the plates loose.

ill have to measure....if you have any I would love one or two in each size to compare.

Feeler

Ok there is the possibility I may have to sell my 40 due to my deployment and the need for the money with some remodels. For those of you that have seen my truck what do you think I could get for it?

To my knowledge:
Jeff's 35s, stock running gears
4 inch lift
SAG steering
Weber Carb
Best Top Bikini Top and Full top
CD player with remote, 2 4 inch speakers in dash
CCOT HFS front bumper
seats in great condition
2 boxes of parts and a spare Asian carb (new)
new dash cluster lights
desmogged (mostly)

runs strong and has no mechanical issues accept an oil leak

Ya'll know the work ive done:
Rust Bullet and paint entire interior
Rust treatment and paint on front end...working on rear
Redid entire fuel system from tank to carb (fuel pump, rubber lines, tank is 2 years old)

The bad:
Rear seal is gone (but has a cover on it)
rear quarters are about to be bondo'd or recovered in diamond plate (they have been treated with RB)
Rust on both sides (passenger being the worst)

I want to finish the paint I started and if I end up having to sell do it late fall.

THERE WILL BE ANOTHER cruiser when I get back...this is to free up a garage space, attic space, make my wifes life easier while im gone and to do some stuff she wants around the house. also my next 9 months are going to be insane with work in prep so I wont have much time for it.

so.....any help on pricing is appreciated....or very high offers:D:D

John,

Lets find a safe, dry place to park it to free up the space. Load it up with all the spares/etc from the attic and garage. It will be here when you get back.

If it is mainly about taking up room at the house then put it in storage. I will gladly go start it up a couple times a month. It will be hard to find another 40 with that much stuff for the price you paid.

thanks lash, hopefully it wont come to selling it.

andy your name all ready came up to drive it a few times a month.

Don't sell this truck! Are you crazy??? Call Jrob or David. One of them has to have some spare place in their warehouses. Dude, don't sell it you'll hate yourself for it later.

I hate myself for considering it and hope like hell to avoid it.

im trying to talk the wife into keeping her Runner and the 40 and selling the volvo (read buy a LC after I get back here!)

Now you're thinkin!

The Volvo should be worth more anyway, right?

You can park it behind my fence if needed. It's not covered but we can throw a tarp over it.

Gay. I'll give you $2500 for it and you can tell your wife you sold it. Come get it when you get home.

that's a viable option except id be concerned you would "liquidate" it for pool supplies

the volvo is worth about $10k with all the dang money it's cost me...I could probably get $7........the 40 is priceless so.....no the volvo is not worth more

same response as Nolan...you might liquidate my truck and go on a bbq foodie run!!! but I appreicate the offer

I would keep it and you can say you sold it. No lying or treachery. I think it is worth a bit more than that, but hey, I will be renting it anyway.

ha renting a 40....that would be a cool business

I wasn't implying shady dealings on your part at all...I appreciate the offer.

the current pursuit is possibly selling the vehicle sucking up all my savings....the volvo. Rob Wilder has been nice enough to help me replace the wheel hub assemblys but parts are still $400+

bestop

anybody have/used a Bestop for a 40? I am considering a grey one and turning my truck into a DD.

im about dun with those swed cars:mad::mad: ive put $2500 in it since I bought it a year ago.

it would also solve the to many cars issue when I leave a year from now.

I say get rid of the volvo. I was happy when we got rid of Jennifer's. I was really disappointed in the durability. It was under warranty, but still a pain because they never keep the parts in stock.

Get a AAA membership, put together a good tool kit, and go with the 40 as a DD. Yours is in good mechanical shape and would probably hold you over until you get back (and buy an 80).

This site has the windjammer (they call it a duster) for $115 that you could add to your bikini and hard doors: 2005 TPI4x4 It looks like it would keep you drier in a rain.

If you want a full softtop, go here: http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/pictures?userid={90A5EC55-BF73-4B74-BFB2-499E492DF0C6}&AlbumId={21D42585-4872-4EE7-B6AB-625C7BC8D39E}&GroupId={30B0A0CE-63B8-43FF-83E3-1D090F0652E7}
It is cheap, but requires drilling for the snaps. That is why I passed on it.

Why I love CLC (and Rob Wilder)

So Rob and I have successfully fixed the volvo. ($600 in parts, 2 Sam Adams, getting to see Rob's 40, getting to see Rob's 80, getting to meet Mrs. Wilder, and Ms. Wilder, wrenching with Rob, saving $600 on labor cost ALL good things!!!!)

THANKS ROB
This club is about Toyota 4WDs but ultimately, as has been said, the friendships and camaraderie are what make it special......don't know many guys that would offer to help wrench on a volvo FOR FREE when they wrench for a living

I still am still wanting to become a 2 toyota family (and 2 car family) but the wife is wanting to keep the volvo......so ill work on her a while longer.

Wind Jammer and a DD sound so good right now....Andy thanks for the links

Points for spelling camaraderie correctly, if you did.

Trade your 40 for Andy's as it is a proven DD. Make sure you get the shoreline in the trade.

how about it Andy?

No problem glad I could help. Sell the Volvo! After seeing that dinky little bolt that holds the cv axle in makes me wonder what else is done half way.

Oh yea it took 1.5 Sam Adams. You didn't finish yours. Don't worry Diogi thanks you, he knocked it over and licked it off the floor. Talk about a good dog.
