The Gold Coast Cruisers are heading here MArch 24th and 25th.

Any tips are appreciated.

all are welcome as well, just give us a heads up.

now is indeed a great time to go weather wise, but it's very crowded so check reservations etc...

well, back from JTNP.

- I did Old Dale Road. About 25 miles. 4 hrs or so. First 10 miles are sandy trails. Next 5 rocky trails. Last 10 sandy trails again. Easy going except for 2 or 3 miles maybe where the road was in the mountains and had quite a few washouts. Somewhat deep ruts, say a foot and a half or so, and rocks that or less, but nothing that a lifted 80 couldn't do easily if somewhat bumpily.

Here is a pick of the bumpy part of the road and some scenery

of course, taking the bike along does largely eliminate the problem of going alone.

been thinking about sticking my mountain bike on the roof rack when going on my own out of the way....

Indeed e9999, a mountain bike would be a nice alternative to a satphone! Can't wait to drive back there now my 80 works well again.

I did this alone with my stock 100 and I brought my mountain bike along just in case. After spending sometime driving the washout dirt roads, I got my mountain out and rode bunch of these dirt roads, it was fun but weird to ride the a mtb bike in a middle of the desert. Btw, the truck was decorated with pin stripes from the bushes during the trip..

we're meeting at the Chevron station off Dillon rd. and the 10 next Saturday morning.
I'll be leaving Ventura by 6am if not friday night.

Who's in?

Reviving and old thread. I'm heading to JTNP next Sunday with my stocker. I'm thinking Pinkham and Old Dale. Anyone in?

are you part Gecko?
It'll be a solid 100 plus the whole time out there!

BE careful! Take lots of water.
I wouldn't suggest going solo.

sorry I can't make it either.

If your chasing T-Storms maybe, if its gonna be dry I will stay at home, Its damn hot out there this time of year

Thanks guys for your concerns. Indeed it'll be 104 or so if I can trust the NWS. But what's this a/c button made for, after all? ;)
Seriously, I'm quite experienced with high temperatures (I used to live in the Middle East/North Africa) and will of course fill my cooler and even bring a satphone (wuss).
I Will keep you posted hopefully with pics.

So I went there last weekend, with my stocker and damage multipliers. I suffered no damage and multiplied the blast!

Did Old Dale from the 62 (between 29 Palms and Amboy), southbound to near Cottonwood. A stop at Hidden Valley and then south through Geological tour - Berdoo Canyon to Dillon Rd.
Both trails are Grade 4 and some places were a bit rough on Old Dale, but overall everything went OK. The heat wasn't that unbereable, thanks to low clouds, and the Cruiser worked like a dream. My passenger, first-time in a serious 4-wheeler, was astonished about the Cruiser's abilities.

My favorite sign in JTNP.

Pappy: this sign is on Berdoo trail, right? Because my stocker got through it unscathed. Just braggin'.
Here it is in an easy thus dramatic spot, south of Geological trail, where the NPS had some controlled burning since the last time I went there. Looks very sinister, you can't help wondering if Norman Bates isn't going to show at the next corner.

Yes, Berdoo. I've been down Berdoo Cyn many times. There have been times after a good winter rain that the canyon blows out and the editorial on the sign is justified.
