Waiting to hear your review prior to ordering. Backing out of the farm our daughter takes horse lessons at last night and couldn't see anything so hoping that this is a good solution

Do you have a 98-02, or 03-07? Seems like the ones I bought fit fine in my 01 but not in mongoose's later model. Toyota changed the housings. I think if you have a 98-02 you should be ok. It fit really well.

I have an 05 and hopefully mongoose’s find works for those of us with later models

I have had these for 2yrs now and I do not understand why everyone does not have them. I even installed them in my wifes Sedona.
They are headlights for backing up.

Thanks. Not sure why sigs don't show up when i am on my phone. Will order some up

It’s propabaly to save memory. Mine doesn’t do that so I never thought of that. Either way, I wasn’t trying to be a jerk.
Let us know how you like them.

Put these in my 2003 LX tonight. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUF1APW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These definitely throw more light onto the ground than the stock lights. Camera autofocus/exposure makes them look roughly the same brightness but the JDM ones are definitely brighter. Pic is to show beam pattern

Will need to try them out in other areas than just my driveway to decide if I really like them any better or not. More pics in my build thread.

I inadvertently got (had) to do a side-by-side comparison of the Pfran and the JDM Astar reverse bulbs.

One of my existing Pfrans failed. So, never being terribly impressed with them, I tried the JDMs. Two arrived... one works. So, I have one working Pfran and one working JDM bulb.

They are pretty close in brightness. It seems the Pfran may be a bit brighter - like 5% maybe? Just looking at the truck - from the outside - the Pfran looks "aftermarket" in that they just are obviously not OE. They have more of a spot, like a single bright spot in the lens. The JDM looks much more OE - the light in the lens is more uniform. But, yeah... I know - who really cares if their reverse lights look O.E.

Driver side: Pfran
Passenger side: JDM

The Pfrans aim higher and leave a bit of a dark spot immediately behind the truck:
Passenger side: Pfran
Driver side: JDM

Conclusion:
Both are better than O.E. but still no where close to being "bright." Given the one-for-two quality on the JDM vs the few years I got from Pfran... and factoring in the aftermarket look of the Pfran vs the OE look of the JDM, I'll still give the nod to Pfran... but I'm not blown away with either.

@MongooseGA don't fret - they're still an improvement over the anemic OE bulbs. They're just not the rear-facing headlights I'd hoped for ;)

They went in fine. I actually like the light output, though you're right, they're not headlights.

Funny though, they're bright enough that now my back up camera screen is blindingly bright in the cabin, basically defeating the purpose anyway since I still can't see out!

So your back up camera can't see anymore? If that is the case, I probably will not change my bulbs then.

^^ Seconded. Is the rear camera blown out to not work?

I agree with @MongooseGA that it does blow out the backup camera... but overall, it's still a little better than the O.E. backup bulbs.

Related: Can anyone answer the question - why do auto manufacturers - not just our 100s - see backup lighting as so unimportant? I can't think of a reason for not having reverse lights as bright as headlights. First thought is blinding other drivers... but who? And when? Backing out of a parking space? The same space you could back in and come out with your headlights on? There must be some reason... cost?

Now I wonder if it is the light output or the type of light is messing up the back up cameras?

If it is the light output, maybe only changing one bulb would help?
