SOLD. Offering for sale this rare, JDM Toyota Land Cruiser. This Right Hand Drive vehicle has been legally imported in accordance with all DOT, EPA and US Customs regulations and has a clean Virginia title. The VIN is HZJ81-000321 with a production date of June 1990.

Currently listed on Ebay for $23,500OBO. MUD member price $21,500k

This exceptionally clean Land Cruiser has only 130,927 kilometers on the odo (81,354 miles). Paint, body, and interior are in excellent condition. It is all original with the exception of the steering wheel, front bumper, and window vent shields (all very common with JDM owners) - and could easily be put back into showroom stock condition, or will make a great start for your dream Land Cruiser build-up.

Drivetrain:

The 1HZ diesel engine starts and runs flawlessly, it is quiet and powerful with a broad torque band. (Toyota still produces this same engine today, 25 years later, for Land Cruisers in Africa.)

The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly and runs quiet. The 4WD Transfer case shifts smoothly and operates perfectly in all ranges. The vehicle is fitted with Aisin locking front hubs, a very unusual option for the 80 Series line, almost all of which were full time 4wd.

Interior:

All seats and carpet are virtually perfect, there are no tears, stains, or worn areas. Front seats are manual adjust and recline, the rear seats are split fold and tumble style. Power windows, locks, and sunroof function correctly, along with all of the dash controls.

Maintenance and Repairs:

The timing belt was changed at 81,640km in 2010. Upon receiving the vehicle in the US, we changed all fluids and filters and replaced the front brake pads and rotors. After which the truck passed the required Virginia state safety inspection.

Body:

This is a “factory slick” style Cruiser, it does not have fender flares or a roof rack. The color is an unusual Gun Metal Gray (Toyota Color Code 183), and overall the paint is in very good condition. The sides are clean and smooth, without the typical door dings and parking lot tags that we see here in the US.

Don't see those very often!

Very nice! I might possibly pay $25k if it had the 1HD-T...

Dropped the price.

As some have noted, yes - you could go source the parts and build your own, but seriously add up the cost of finding and acquiring a clean 80k mile FJ80, a halfcut that you can't even test drive, and all of the labor necessary to put it together...

Probably smart to sell this now before the market gets flooded with these as the 1990-1991 model years are legal to import now

Flooded? Hop on Japanese auction houses right now and you'll see there's literally none to purchase. In the last two weeks, there's been one ... and it was haggard. I only know because I check every morning, cash in hand ready to throw in a bid. I'm buying every 81 that comes available, provided it's not rough.
